IT’S a funny old game. After the media had spent the week laughing at Jürgen Klopp for mentioning the wind as a factor in Liverpool’s 0-0 draw at Everton, it was somewhat ironic that they spent this weekend going “blimey, the wind’s affecting things a bit here”....
I’M starting to go off Sundays, to be honest. The last two have produced the same bright mornings and shiny optimism of what may lie ahead, only to be doused by the waters of disappointment as Liverpool fail to win away to a bitter rival, allowing said rivals – and...
SOMETIMES, you play the game out beforehand in your head. You don’t particularly want to, but you can’t help it. You’re doing the shopping, travelling to work, pretending to listen to your boss, your mind wanders, thinking about the big game, imagining what might...
ARE you ready for the next two weeks? Between now and March 3, Liverpool play Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Watford and Everton. It is unlikely to be a gentle period, but how boring would football be if it was? After putting up with the football wasteland that was...
SMILES were back on Liverpool faces at Anfield on Saturday as three points were secured against Bournemouth. It was a performance befitting of one of the most electric sides in football, and saw them entertain the masses and briefly take their place back at the top of...
SO, I’ve had a shit week. How about you? Monday night saw Liverpool potentially hand the momentum in the Premier League title race back to Manchester City, just five days after having the opportunity to go seven points clear at the top. The Reds remain at the summit...
I HAVE often questioned the “is the glass half full or half empty?” proverb. Mostly because I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say “half empty” in any other context. I’m not convinced it’s a real saying, like Fred Astaire suggesting that some people pronounce potato...
IT is fair to say that things are currently going well at Liverpool Football Club. Jürgen Klopp, his players and the fans are all on board the SS “Let’s win the Premier League and then find a shorter, sharper name for our metaphorical ship”, but it’s not...
ANOTHER weekend, another Liverpool victory. Maybe that line doesn’t scan given the 1-0 win at Brighton and Hove Albion followed back-to-back defeats to Manchester City and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup, but I stand by it. It was another of a certain kind of...
IT was a brilliant 2018 for Liverpool. The first half saw them reach the Champions League final in thrilling fashion, while the second half was made up of charging to the front of the Premier League pack. A week into 2019 and they’ve suffered two defeats, one to their...
The third episode of season one of The Pub Crawlers Podcast was recorded in Nottingham, as Rob Gutmann hosts Steve Graves and Martin Fitzgerald to discuss the local pub scene, Indian restaurants, students, and more…
The Pub Crawlers Podcast represents a quest to find the very best authentic UK pubs, filmed on location inside some of the finest boozers across the UK and Ireland.
Well, sort of. It’s equally about friends having three to four pint-fuelled, quintessential pub conversations, on any subjects that damn well occur to them, in a range of outstanding boozers across the land. So, really, it’s as much about what we get up to in pubs as the pubs themselves.
The shows are presented by self-styled boozer connoisseur and long-time pub designer and owner, Rob Gutmann, who is on a mission to find the very best pubs in the UK and to define the essence of the ‘true’ pub.
Featuring a wide range of guests (mainly Rob’s mates), we’ll be visiting pubs the length and breadth of the country, bedding into the very best of them, and chatting about our lives lived in and around boozers.
The first season of the Pub Crawlers focuses on the North of England, taking in Chester, Sheffield, Manchester, Liverpool, and even a brief foray to the north side of the Midlands in Nottingham.
Plug yourself in to the ongoing conversation as it disappears down all manner of tenuously pub-related worm holes, with your new mates at TPC. And you don’t need a pint to enjoy us, but it might help…
