Carragher’s last game, shot hitting crossbar
Answers to opening question sadly overlooked Carragher’s last game and Momo Sissoko vs Barça.
I normally love the podcast and anything associated with the site, but i had to switch this one off about 20 mins in.
Far far too much moaning going on.
And I generally love a good moan!
Said he moaning about a free service.
Opening question: Carragher in his last game with the long range effort.
What’s up with McKenna? He’s so miserable. Does he need someone to talk to, some mates to help him over whatever his problem is?
The ticketing fiasco wasn’t handled well. Personally I think Ged Poynton should be sacked for blaming the fans when the changes to the gates weren’t communicated. At the same time one wonders whether some factions rubbed their hands with glee when they heard about it so they can moan about something. One feels their still stuck in the dark days of early 2010. Mistakes are being made still but Liverpool is in a much better position than they were back then and these circling vultures do my head in. Looking for trouble has become their reason d’etre
The ticketing issue was disgusting. Sacking people isn’t a mature response. He should be sat down with some Hillsborough families and educated. This isn’t the US where hire and fire is the simple way out. How many times would you have been fired for a failure on the job, Crimes?
It’s not as simple as a ‘mistake’. Everyone makes those. This wasn’t a mistake. I’m looking at this more holistically. Since H&G there have been tensions between the club and supporters. Whether they’ve been successful or not is not the point here but bridges have attempted to have been built between the 2. Dialogue has been attempted in certain areas.
What Ged Poynton did has set everything back. Are you aware of how angry the fans were who were told it was the supporters fault? LFC changed the entrance ticket machines and removed the stewards who stand on the other side. This will obviously cause teething problems. The club should have known that. Instead of admitting the mistake and apologising GP tried to blame the fans. It’s unacceptable conduct regardless, but has also set back any bridges between the fans and club. Bearing in mind his overall view of the fans, it’s my opinion he shouldn’t even be in the job. This should have been the final straw. Did Jen Chang make a mistake in his role? Yes. Was sacking him the only choice? Yes. He abused the relationship between the club and the fans. GP is exactly the same.
So, in summary – GP didn’t drop his cup of tea by accident. A simple mistake. This was a calculated response and in keeping with overall attitude towards fans. In a time when the policy at the club is to try to move forward, unite as one, he’s set things back. For that reason, I don’t think he should be in that position. If you do then fine but i don’t. The club is far more important than 1 individual who hates football supporters.
OK Robin, I see where you’re coming from. Fire the cunt!
