Neil and the lads are joined by Chris Maguire as they celebrate a long awaited league victory, pull out the positives and analyse the very few negatives before turning attention to Udinese on Thursday night.

I thought all the signs were there with a very solid 1-4 U21 win against a much more experienced Chelsea side. After a wobbly start and early concession it seemed as close to a comprehensive “death by football” win as we’d seen at any level of the club for a long time. More significantly, it was clear that there was a bright line between the youth side and how the first team were growing into the system. Early days, but how many can recall within recent years such a depth of philosophy as we see now? Very encouraging stuff.
Should have remembered that Chelsea did NOT score first in this match. But the main point remains that we’re seeing some really good things develop from top to bottom in the club. Not to make too much of a point here, but FSG, for all their mistakes, have probably the right to take some credit for providing stability and competence in most areas of the club which affords us time to build success at a comfortable pace. This is not to say that we’re anywhere near where we want to be, and certainly the transfer mess of this summer can not be repeated (nor is there much chance that it will be), however we are seeing success start to permeate through all areas of the club, which can only lead to a level of confidence we’ve not seen in quite some time.
Can I just say, your show is absolute kwwaaaality and another thing that makes this club so special!
Keep it up guys!
Norwegian LFC-fanatic and Wrapaholic!
Another great show again but.. How could you not meantion yet more terrible decisions from the Ref? Surely there is an agenda against Suarez?
I made the same point about Skrtel last week after watching ‘Being Liverpool’. He comes across as someone who goes home and looks for ways to inflict pain on himself. In Being Liverpool, though, there are two scenes where he’s giggling. One’s in the yoga class. It looks like he’s probably a good laugh.
This is absolutely brilliant. Just discovered The Anfield Wrap a few days ago, and I can’t stop listening to your stuff. The fact that I’ve been buzzing since the West Brom cup game doesn’t exactly make it any easier to switch off LFC between games. I should be doing things….I’m not…
