WHOEVER is responsible for early kick offs needs to understand that they are absolutely shite.
Every fucker is scrambling round like the clocks have gone forward three hours, the ground has moved to just outside Birmingham and they haven’t been to bed in a month. The atmosphere is shite, you haven’t got time to get a bevy before the game, and the consequence is a ground where everyone still thinks they are in bed and can’t be arsed singing. If we get anymore early kick offs we need a three-point initiative to help with the atmosphere.
- Free Garys on entrance to anyone over 17.
- Free hip flask of Brandy to anyone over 16.
- George to take us back to his pomp and play a set of absolute bangers while the game is on. Think Disco Beat Hotel.
Pissed it. If anyone at the club wants me to box this for the next one, hit me up lads. It will be a piece of piss.
Alisson: 7
Makes a few good saves, tells everyone what to do, boss with his feet and can’t half pass it — that one where he pinged it to Andy Robbo (I think). Second half was boss. There’s some talk about a cap second half but I was down the other end and couldn’t see a thing. Boss for the first goal.
Trent: 6
Clearly struggling for form, but in fairness today he kept showing for the ball, kept working, even though it was tough. Will come out the other side a better player.
Joe Gomez: 7
Struggled at first with their fella upfront who looks like he had a bath full of boiled eggs for his tea but grew in to the game second half and started fouling the Grock, which takes some doing in fairness. Poor for the one when both him and Virg stand off him.
Virg: 7
Boss when he ended up left wing twice in the second half after corners, weren’t it? Legit play him there away to City and just give it to Alisson to hit it to him on the touchline all day. Let him pluck it out the sky, beat three and box it.
Andy Robbo: 8
Legged it all day, could have scored a few, great on the overlap and was generally our best player who isn’t a little mad barrel who plays upfront or in midfield. Would like to see him score.
Fabinho: 7
Done alright there, didn’t he? As in alright. Got his foot in well and ticked it over. God help him when the internet realises he passes the ball backwards a fair bit.
Gini: 6
Given the two in midfield were spectacularly deep, they didn’t offer a great deal of protection when they kept breaking first half. Did alright, didn’t do much wrong, just doesn’t feel like we got enough from the midfield.
Shaqiri: 8
Our best player, there. Loads of movement, head up all the while, first thought is what can I create, rather than here you go lad next to me, you have it. Some of them through balls first half were boss, the finish is an absolute peach. Watches it all day long. What a fella. Reckon he is the one fella I would love to be in our gang. Imagine his rig out bouncing round town.
Mo Salah: 8
Actually thought he was good today. Stronger than he has been, sharp, quick, on the front foot and unlucky not to score more than one. Not sure this shape helps him much, but he still could have had a hat trick. Great for the goal.
Sadio: 7
Started the season on fire but has cooled down a bit, more a bit of a smoulder at the minute. Not sure this formation is helping anyone really, least of all the next fella.
Firmino: 6
Seems to me that playing Salah ahead of him seems to nullify his threat pretty much entirely. Ends up basically playing centre mid, which doesn’t suit him at all. Worked hard and kept trying but it just seems to knock him out of his stride.
SUBS
Hendo:
Come on and looked knackered, like he had been on my three-point atmosphere plan while he has been out.
The Rest:

Gini was anonymous. Again. I think he’d benefit from a couple of Gary’s. And a nosebag full of marching powder. I’d benefit from him not playing for Liverpool any more.
Sooner have Gini playing than Lallana. I actually was very happy that Adam was not on the pitch. The longer than continues the better.
However agree that Gini was fairly naff today.
Have to say I am also surprised that when Jurgen made the substitutions today that Shaq is taken off for Milner to come on. Surely with 10 mins to go we should be giving Keita a run out.
Team selection was right. Formation we decided to use 4 2 3 1 is what I feel we must use in every game this season. However who played where in that selection left me scratching my head. Salah up top and Firmino as the 10. Better off with Bobby as the false 9 and Salah on the right. Shaq could have played the 10 role… Yep I am going to have this bit of a moan, as i felt it offered us no favours, again, today.
There goal was harshly chalked off. Would be going nuts if that happened to us. That said we’ve had very good onside goals ruled out, wrongly. Theirs was marginal and without the benefit of seeing this with a line across the pitch from whatever part of Andy Robertson was nearest goalside to whatever was protruding from their attacker as the ball is played I can’t really tell if he was on or off, but it was close.
As for us then going up the other end and scoring. Well like in boxing, you have to defend yourself at all times.
Again today we weren’t great today. Players still making mistakes unnecessarily so… Yet we took 3 points today and sit currently top of the League with City still yet to play Utd and the Bitters currently holding the Chavs at 0 vs 0 with just 20 mins left to play.
nothing we can do but take the 3 points and move on and embrace being back to winning ways.
One of those games were you remember the goals and nothing else. Fab looks to be finding his feet and Shaqiri reminded everyone that Bayern Munich don’t tend to buy duds. Looking forward to seeing the day when Fab, Keita and Shaqiri play a whole game together, could be pretty interesting. I have no idea why Henderson and Milner came on before Keita, both did nothing whereas Keita played a superb ball out to Salah and he was only on for two minutes!
I was perplexed that Milner got the nod with 10 mins to go over Keita, who needs game time.
I also was truly excited in the summer when I thought we had got Fekir. Every time I have seen this lad play he seems the type who would do well for us, so when it was sort of announced we had him, then I was very excited, more so than Keita.
Oh well without him (Fekir) we are top of the League and the Bitters have done us a favour at Stamford Bridge and held the Chavs to a draw. It means at its worst, by the end of the day we could be 2nd in the PL after 12 games and with 30 points. Or best return in the PL to date at this point.
Onwards and upwards and here’s hoping that Fabinho and Keita turn out to to be everything we all hoped them to be and more.
Love this. We win to go top of the league and every post so far contains a negative. This player’s shite, that substitution was bollocks … moan fucking moan.
Jesus – imagine these boards when we lose a league game.
You obviously missed midweek then :)
So I take it you are now happily knocking one off over that performance, or are you secretly like the rest of us, looking at this and thinking that we are still making hard work of things?
Bigger challenges lay ahead than Fulham at home. Hopefully we will start to get much better and equally keep picking up the wins we need. So that said it is good that we can moan at being top :)
I don’t think people are complaining or grumbling, at least I wasn’t, just making reasonable observations about the game. Would you rather we all thought the same and never wondered why things might have been different?
Salah good. Robbo brilliant. Shaq MoM. There’s 3 positives for you.
Shaqiri.
All I see is why he plays home to Fulham and Cardiff but not away to Spurs or Chelsea.
Useful for some things.
When he came on against Chelsea, I felt he helped us grab a point. Missed a good opportunity before Sturridge hit his Worldie.
I’d like to see Shaq unleashed against the other top 6 teams and not just the cannon fodder that props up the League.
“God help him when the internet realises he passes the ball backwards a fair bit.”
Just reflecting on this bit about Fab, basically describes Hendo for the first “season” (30 ish) games under Klopp. Two seasons on, with better positional understanding for himself and those around him, increased tactical study within the system, and fitness levels increased he is arguably one of the most important players in the team. Fab looks to have the graft and appears to love s dogfight, once he has some more time in the system could be unstoppable.
