Tons to get through on the Gutter today and news breaks during it about Liverpool’s accepted offer to AS Roma for Alisson Becker to become the most expensive goalkeeper in history.
The most expensive goalkeeper in history. To go with the most expensive centre back in history. Does this suggest something about Liverpool’s approach under Jurgen Klopp?
Can Chelsea gazump us? Is that their plan and will Alisson be interested? His qualities as a goalkeeper cannot be underestimated. It really is all go right now at Liverpool and there is also a massive two weeks ahead on Nabil Fekir.
There is even more news around departures. Part bulletin, part discussion, this is the Gutter at its best.
Neil Atkinson hosts with Mike Kevin, Paula Murphy and Mo Stewart the panel.

A lot of biased BS said on this podcast. Most of the stuff you’re claiming Alisson to be good at was also said about Karius (before he came here) and it is also what he showed from January till May. And stats-wise, Karius had great numbers in the Bundesliga, Alisson in Serie A.
Trying to sell the listeners that he is some sort of second coming.
Please! The only world class, proven keeper we were linked with was Oblak. Alisson has a lot of hype going for him. That’s about it.
Let’s wait 10-15 matches and see if he actually is a real upgrade on Karius (at his best). If I’d have to put money on it, I am sure there will a howler, there will be anxious moments with him like with Karius. I’ll happily be convinced by the opposite.
But let’s pretend this transfer isnt a big big gamble, especially considering Alisson’s status and experience a the highest level.
