Minds of lesser men may be elsewhere, but the spirit of transfer tattle within Rob Gutmann endures
With links to Jack Butland that refuse to go away and noise from Roma about Alisson not being allowed to move in this summers window, have Liverpool switched targets and priorities, especially given the improvement in Loris Karius?
Jean-Michel Aulas of Lyon has also been on the attack in regards to the much prized Nail Fekir, but given Aulas’s track record is it to be expected.
Rob is joined by Adam Smith and Andy Heaton to debate the finer points.

The Gutmann abides. :)
Great show as ever lads. Cheers.
When Andy referred to Tarkowski, as being from “a family of athletes” did anyone else think of ‘Dick Grayson’?
No,
just me then eh’, oh well. :)
Was Lascelles
Yeah, I realised but unfortunately there’s no edit on here. . I don’t know much about either of these. Have to do a bit of research. Do you like either of them?
On the goalkeeping question, I think you’re forgetting the man ‘they’ call ‘The Ginger goalkeeper’, Adam ‘The Bogster/ Bogstandard’ Bogdan(ovich?)
or maybe, you’re not. :)
The keeper question is a bit of a perplexing one. I really like Karius, and I think he’s come on leaps and bounds this season. he looks like the player we thought we were getting originally. It’s a difficult one for Klopp I feel, because if we go for a player of the level of Alisson or Donnaruma (and are they both THAT much better than Karius?) then we’ll be paying £40-£60 by the looks of the market. I wonder if, in that case, it will depend on what else we can do, and where else we need to strengthen. From everything being reported we do appear to have another decent budget this close-season. Even before we factor in the usual FSG input of around £30-£40 million, we have a lot of money, generated from a decent season on the pitch/ plus sales (That’s Champions League campaign cash of what? £70m plus, Top 4/ CL qualification cash £50m? Add to that the Coutinho/ Barca sale money of £146m and we have what looks like a very healthy budget. I haven’t added in the TV deal/ rights as I’m not sure how much that is, even in estimate.
I would like Lovren to stay. I know he can do everyone’s ‘gourd’ in at times, but he is a quality player who I believe is still developing. I think that cebtre-backs, like Goalkeepers, often do keep developing late into their twenties. He also (like many others) looks a much better player, alongside VvD, and also seems a really good fit there. That said, I think I’d be pretty useless as a manager, as I’d never actually want to make any tough decisions. We’d end up with about 50 players in the first team squad!
Remember Coutinho’s deal is £105m which will rise to £142m after performance targets met
