A long chat with Steve Goldsmith about where it has gone wrong for Sunderland makes up this Midnight Caller.
Steve’s understandably upset and angry about a football club and a region being decimated and ignored. The club has been dreadfully run and this is the consequence – their lowest league finish in over 20 years and relegation to the third tier of English Football.
Neil Atkinson hosts, Steve talks and you can hear it by clicking here.
No sympathy from me.

Always one of the best coachers.
Look forward to hearing about League 1 adventures next year.
I’ve also been watching from afar but I could see all this years ago when they started buying journey men like Richardson and the likes. Sunderland made the same mistake time and time again. The curse of The Premiership money means clubs suddenly forget long term and get caught up in the short term windfall. Reckless abandonment with weak money hungry owners. I fear Sunderland will keep going all the way down, I personally hate to see clubs mismanaged because at the end us fans pay the price. I don’t look at other clubs and laugh at how poor their managed financially cause there is fans just like us suffering. Without Fans Football means nothing.
There is some comfort to be had in the example of Blackburn. Negligent owners and sunk like a stone last season. Had a great year of going to League 1 grounds and winning games. Got promoted this week.
