FOOTIE, mate. How often does a referee listen to a linesman? They are absolutely the mings of the footie world. Imagine being that unsure of your own ability that you defer to a skinny fella who can’t ref a game, can’t control a game, can’t make a decision. Fucking wafting a wand around all game like some kind of Harry Potter blert. Fucking hocus pocus, lad.
Just seen it on the telly, though. He does absolutely kick him right up the arse there, doesn’t he? Probably assault in the street, never a pen in the ground mind you.
Prince Larius of Karius: 6
Probably his best half of footie first 45, made a few saves and that. Shite for their goal, but then in fairness you can’t expect Wanyama to wallop one right in the top bin with his first touch. Unlucky for the Kane dive, good save from the pen. Probably should have kept hold of the ball for a bit there second half.
Robbo: 7
Defended well there, pretty poor going forward though.
Big Virg: 7
Won all his battles, won every header, booted their lad right up the arse for their second pen. Never a pen but a pen all day. Fucking hell. Preferred it when I hadn’t seen the replay and wanted the liner handcuffed and lashed in the river to be quite honest with you. Scored the winner against The Blue Shite, mind.
Degsy: 6
Great until he wasn’t. Marvellous until he let his defences down. He will always have a hole in his foot when it matters most. Dangerous dog, mate. Just bit your kids head off there for the missed pen. Don’t let your guard down. Never take your eyes off him.
Trent: 6
Kicked their fella in the nipple first half. Got better as the game went on though, which was good as he started shite.
Henderson: 7
Was good but then Dembele wafted past him a few times. Boss when he decided Harry Kane was a cunt for a bit. Should have popped a couple of Garys in his tunnel mouth while he had the chance.
Milner: 6
Legged it, won it, gave it away, and then won it back — as per.
Emre: 6
Neither great or shite. A bit passive when the Reds needed someone to get their foot on it. Not the only one though.
Mo Salah: 9
Probably our best player in 20 years. Scored two out of nothing. A threat, a danger — imperative we keep him fit.
Sadio: 7
Thought he was a threat you know. Should have played Mo in second half when he had the world to run into.
Firmino: 7
Better than Harry Kane but not at his best. Grafted.
SUBS
Chambo: Was shite when he came on.
Matip: Don’t like that three at the back business as we always concede as soon as we do it.
Gini: Hmm.
___
Hugo Lloris: Otherwise know as Hugo Noreech — looked like he had a Norwich kit on, didn’t he? Fucking mustard-headed fucker. Adam Melia took exception to the Norwich kit. Let’s be having Hugh. Yellow fucker.

Nobody seems to know the offside rule anymore….
And Lamela wins that penalty by running into VVD, but it’s a penalty EXCEPT that Lamela was offside from the flick on
VAR, we win
https://twitter.com/BSmith/status/960244420099665920?s=17
You think that’s a pen?
It’s not a penalty. VVD clearly pulls out and Lamela jumps into him. Sickened even more now
Nobody seems to know the offside rule anymore…
What’s this in relation to?
The situation where Kane was offside, Lovren touches it and people think that means he is onside again…
From FIFA rules…
“Gaining an advantage by being in that position”
means:
Playing a ball that rebounds to him off a post or
crossbar, having previously been in an offside position.
Playing a ball, that rebounds to him off an opponent,
having previously been in an offside position.
If Kane is deemed to be in a legitimate position, then surely a valid tactic would be to leave a man up on the edge of the box, play long balls up 20 yards short of him and “challenge” for the ball but try not to touch it and hopefully force opponent into an accidental flick on. Big Sam will be all over this
Simon is bang on. According to the rules, Kane is offside for that first one.
Yeah agree Simon. Apologies for the response. To be honest, I was effin livid when I read your comment and had been day dreaming about torturing that linesman. It’s funny isn’t it. Sometimes when you imagine chiselling someone’s fingers off and putting electrodes on their genitals it makes you squeam and yet sometimes the thought of it gives you intense satisfaction.
I thought for a minute you were being one of those smart arses that was suggesting it was onside because of the Lovren touch. I can’t stand that from Liverpool fans when we’re all hurting. Apologies, completely agree.
Not convinced the first was a pen. Kane was off and while the ball game of Lovern surely to play Kane onside it should go down as interfering with play? If Kane isnt there Lovern doesnt even attempt to play the ball and it rolla through to the keeper.
Second was a pen all day long. Cant let our loyalties blind us.
So one poor pen decision (missed) one good decison (scored). Draw probably a fair result which will do us no harm. For the next few weeks the top six all play each other while we have very winnable games. Should be clear in second come March 1st.
Up the VvD/DL partnership reds.
agreed.
although Lovren is still a bit of a cock.

Never a pen. Sorry.
Never a pen, exactly. This angle shows it 100%. How are own supporters saying it’s a pen. Absolutely ridiculous Ben! It’s a blatant dive. Lamela jumps into Virgil, who pulls out. Then Lamela acts like he’s been shot.
Plus, Lamela is actually jumping away from the ball in order to try to create the contact.
Moss didn’t even think twice about awarding it. How the linesman can give that I have no idea
Where has this penalty bollocks come from? Where did this “if there is contact then the striker has the right to go down” come from? Why doesn’t unnatural movement count when it’s an attacker?
Kane played for it with unnatural movement….you know the sort of thing that pens get given for when it’s a lame handball.
“second was a pen all day long” – Lamela was in an offside position so a more competent linesman would have spotted that and ended the debate there. Lamela then jumps into Van Dijk to get the contact. We had this with Lovren v Everton, and it was ridiculous to give a pen then and it was ridiculous to give a pen today. Players not diving exactly, but jumping in front of players to get a penalty. Linesman should have known better, especially since Dele was already booked for diving and it’s clear it’s a tactic of theirs. Debatable decision, the ref didn’t give it, VAR would have spotted the offside, VAR would have seen the other angle of Lamela jumping in front of VVD, so not “all day long” at all. Very disappointing to drop points because the linesman made a mistake.
I thought Van Dijk was very good throughout so it’s especially annoying how it ended.
Bang on.
And Kane is offside. FIFA rules of football state it, but it’s obvious even without referring to the rule bookbook
Karius deserves higher than a 6, arguably the 3rd best player today
Definitely mate, harsh as the first pen that score!
Yeah, at least a 7 if not an 8. Came off his line quick to close down Son (and another one in the first half that was called back for offside), and guessed that Kane will bottle it and go for the safe option on the penalty. You could argue that he should catch the one he punches to Wanyama but that is very harsh as would have been a very risky catch, and especially as he punches it straight to Can who should do better.
It’s all relative isn’t it? We didn’t really ‘deserve’ a win but teams win without deserving to literally every week.
Salah’s goal would have been the winning goal if we lived in a decent universe, but we don’t. It was a moment of sheer brazen brilliance. Fancy scoring a goal that. Fancy even thinking it was a possibility. This is an outrageous player we have here.
On another note I really hope today is the day people realise Spurs aren’t what they are perceived to be. They are dreadful. Dembele is the dirtiest player in the league mate. Alli is a toxic cheat and Kane’s nothing like the golden boy of British football people like Jamie Redknapp (and the entire pundit community) want him to be. It was an appalling dive for their first pen. The mark of a proper cheat. Then afterwards he goes up to the camera and says: “you can’t give me two tries.” Get to fuck mate. Salah doesn’t do any of that shite, he just gets on with his football. He’s better than Kane too. He doesn’t pad out his statistics with tap-ins and penalties (bar Huddersfield).
I accept Spurs played well because they very much did. On the balance of play a draw is reasonable but Jon Moss and his team were embarrassing today. He’s not up to it I’m afraid. Lacks the character and authority. Arsene Wenger’s right, officiating standards simply haven’t improved. They’ve never been worse. They are totally unaccountable and impossibly arrogant. No doubt Klopp will be fined like Wenger was by the totalitarian FA.
Anyway, we’re not in a bad position really.
.
And yet I was watching the game thinking how great Dembele would be in our midfield. Time for people to start asset stripping the Spurs team and set them back a decade or two.
I don’t doubt Dembele’s quality. He’s a class act ability wise. He seems to move at 2.5mph yet glides past people.
I remember when he was a forward for Fulham. He was a lot skinnier back then. He’s a tank now.
As for teams asset-stripping Spurs, I don’t see why that shouldn’t happen. They haven’t won anything and Real are almost guaranteed to go for Kane in a big way. Eriksen could play for a better club than Spurs as well. Alderweireld still hasn’t sorted his contract out either.
Love the reds; love the anfield wrap; love Ben Jonno on the podcasts, but not really finding it that funny after another performance like that. Ben – stick to the pods. TAW – get someone on here who can give a decent review. Up the reds
It’s ratings, mate. Not a review.
Fair Kop Ben lad. Devo’d By the result. Back in the box for me! We gona see more of you on the pods? Up the reds
There is a lad there in Ings who would probably run through walls for the boss, instead he puts on Chamberlin, who could hardly be arsed, hopefully he doesnt get another game for a while.
Agree with all he rating, except Karius. I think another +2 should be there for him for saving the penalty and overall performance. I don’t think he could have saved the fluke shot from Wanyama either. An inch to the left and it would have hit the post and we would have gone on to win.
First penalty was wrongly given as Kane was offside, but I don’t think there was any contact made. The second, Lamela was offside and if Virgil was not even aware of him, he swung a leg and that was that. The Ref did not see it as a foul, but that fucking linesman decided the game.
I don’t agree with anyone saying Spurs were better than LFC in the second half. They were playing against LFC who were tiring at best. Despite that we scored. We also missed several chances and couple of our players were out of form. We also defended better this time, as Spurs should have scored much more, but they were pedestrian at best.
I was kind of hoping for Kane to have scored his 100th against united, it would have created less theatrics from him, and Alle, and probably from the Ref/linesman who seemed like they had to gift-wrap it to this English player, as all the headlines have his name vs Salah’s magnificent and determined effort. Did you notice even Moss was all smiles and congratulating Kane for his achievement?
I am disappointed at Ox and Gini was going missing when they came on. It was the right subs I think. They were supposed to stop that midfield breaks. Oh well. We got a point and still 3rd to say the least.
I am very proud of the team and Klopp for giving it everything they had.
Thanks for the ratings Ben.
Up the Reds!
Thought Karius was excellent today.
Quick off his line, decent passing, brilliant save 1 on 1 against Son. Held another tough one in the first half and then saved a pen. Not a spectacular pen save but he has to be given credit for guessing right.
He might have tried to catch the cross for their first but it was whipped in with pace. He went for the punch, got decent contact, both Can and Oxlaide had chances to clear it further and well Wanyama… what a goal, superb.
Overall WELL DONE Karius!
I’ll take a goalkeeper;s opinion over likes of Jamie Redknapp

I’ve criticized him a lot previously but I’ll die defending Karius’s decision to come and punch for the Wanyama goal. Even the execution of the punch too. I’d take the chances against Wanyama doing what he did every time.

Brilliant from Karius! Showed nerve to stand up to the penalty as long as he did.

Agree completely Sash, as you mentioned over in the other comments section!
It always has to be about Kane. The script was written. It’s all so boring. The lad is a top striker, he really is, but the British media needs perspective (fancy that) here. He specialises in tap-ins and penalties. He’s scored some great goals too but most people are so desperate for him to be on Messi and Ronaldo’s level when he’s not even in that league.
You can go back to wanting the linesman lynched. Side view shows no contact on the arse kick but there is contact between his back and VVD knee after. Never a pen.
Our defence was much much better today because we were under the cosh for a long time without them causing us major problems to lose to silly ref decisions will lead to the rhetoric that our defence is shite but I hope we continue to make progress there under the radar until the swipe Luvvie was very good he needs to work on his concentration and continue to be calm and not rash I think long term we will have to get a proper defensive midfielder to get the final balance between attack and defence not so good result but much much better defending
The Salah comment and score was almost 100% accurate however I think everyone will agree it is one word too long.
ox,gini, came on,waste of time, they were fresh, should have shored up mid field, mane should have stayed on,he tied down players, taking him off released a spurs player into mid field, defence a lot better, keeper ok.just no luck today, the ref let tackles go that were fouls, yet give pens ,for minor tackles.it must be only refs that know the rules, hahahahahhahha, let get back to the rules, your off side, your offside, simple,we all know the rules then
Neither was a pen. Both Spurs players were offside. Both should be done for simulation.
Sorry Ben, I love your reports, but if that’s a kick in the arse, then firstly you need biology lessons on anatomy… as I would hate to see what part you wipe when you have a shit.
As for the so called kick, was it the light breeze from a butterfly wing in Japan that knocked Lamela down, as he went down like he’d been shot. I am an old skool, Sunday League yard dog. I gave as good as I got and never crumpled in a heap even when I got my ankle broken. Yet you call that a kick. Come here and I’ll show you a proper kick up the arse, afterwards you can then have the ability to at least get some grading correct.
Now let’s discuss the decisions not given. The only time we got anything from the officials was when in possession, to bring us back. If we didn’t have possession and looking dangerous then it was waved on. At one stage Salah is wrestled to the ground and Spurs came away with it, despite not even winning the ball. Can gets a full smack in the face from Demele with his hand as he goes in for a tackle. Yellow card all day long. In fact Markovic got sent off once for something similar for waving his hand at a player 10 yards away. In fact Demele did this again later on in the game, I think to Milner next. – Karis fouled by Kane and naff all given.
Now for the cheating Lino who celebrated with a fist pump when the pen was awarded. Not once did he give anything to Liverpool all game. Gave plenty against us. In fact look at the throw in in the 2nd half of the game down his line. It went out by their technical area, so midway in their half. Yet the Spurs player edged and edged and edged down the line and eventually took the throw in our half. he must of went about 30 yards.
This shit went on all game. – So stop the chatting bollocks and actually watch the game and the fecking injustices we are constantly suffering a cheating meffs.
You guys have clearly never kicked a guy in the arse before. Yes Lamela is offside, yes he moves towards VVD and away from the ball but VVD gives him a right hard kick on the back of the leg. So no pen (because…offside) but i’d like to see one of you take a kick from VVD and not hit the deck.
It looks, in some angles, that VVD pulls out of it but he doesn’t. He makes contact with a 12-13 stone solid object and so his foot/leg has no where else to go (several other angles show definite contact). Pretty sure a 6’5″ mountain kicking you would hurt…although probably not enough to send another athlete tumbling…so Lamela is still a **@t.
Moss: -1000
Alli/Kane/Lamela: fucking pathetic!
Liverpool team overall: way too passive second half. Worries me a bit, to be honest…
