IT’S best not to write angry. A settled mind with a clear idea of your argument and intentions is usually the right way to go about things but sometimes you just have to let your passion speak.
It’s even more difficult when your anger is mixed with the sickening taste of despair.
On days like Sunday when you look at the pitch and wonder just how those men have made it onto the pitch in the first place, how they’ve met many times and worked together and come back with that ninety minutes, a repeat performance of last week’s non-performance which in itself paid homage to the previous week’s fifteen minute non-performance which undone the previously good seventy five minute performance, it’s all you can do to find a rational, cogent and lucid argument to express the facts and the evidence of your own eyes.
Yes, it hurts and I’m sick of feeling hurt. Watching Liverpool in the League this year has been cruel. Every one of us has dreamt of doing what those players are doing. Do they realise how lucky they are?
Do they realise exactly what how we feel when Liverpool touches us personally. I once threw a training ball back to Jamie Redknapp once during the warm up. He said ‘Cheers mate.’ I was 25 at the time, an adult rather than a boy of eight and I still felt like a God.
Why? Because I played the tiniest, tiniest part in something magical. Imagine, I supposed, being Jamie Redknapp. Liverpool’s captain. That alone would have burst my heart but there was more to it than that.
He got to go to Melwood every day. He got to phone Sami Hyypia whenever he wanted. He got to go to Anfield every day and could walk the corridors unmolested. Every day must feel like Charlie Bucket the day he won the Golden Ticket to visit the Chocolate Factory.
Me, I wouldn’t want to sleep. I’d be pissed off when I couldn’t go to work. You might bump into Ronnie Moran and he might tell you something of the past. You’d go home disappointed that you had to get through some hours before doing it all again the next day. Even then he got to go home to Louise.
The same remains today, nearly two decades later. Every single one of us would give our left love spud to get onto that pitch and feel that badge on our chests. If only we weren’t all shit. Even if you’re very good you’re still too shit to play for Liverpool.
I’ve always been shit so it was never a serious dream and it was never to be my role. My job is to stand or sit where appropriate and support those who won the lottery.
You jammy, jammy bastards.
They have the power. They have the gift. And how do they use that gift? That rare ability that deems them good enough to play for Liverpool Football Club?
A 2012 League record which would practically have relegated us had the season started on New Year’s Day.
How do they fight back at going a goal down? Simple. They don’t.
The long faces match the shortening of the strides. Why can’t they get angry? Why are they looking at their feet when things are against them? I’m angry! I’m fucking furious! Why can’t they borrow my anger and put us fucking back in the game? Is that too much to ask? You’re playing for Liverpool and you’re not angry when you’re losing? Then what are you doing here?
Carragher talks of not going out if we lose. Good. That’s what we want to hear. A defeat is a wounding experience be it unlucky (Arsenal), stupid (QPR) or gutless (Wigan) so why do we accept it so easily once the opposition gets ahead. Where’s your anger? Your pride? Where’s your desire to stop the rot?
We want our players to crawl off the pitch with exhaustion at the end of the game, not trot off with apologetic applause for the fans. When we drew 1-1 with Arsenal in Hodgson’s first game Carragher was still panting ten minutes after the final whistle as he’d left it all out on the pitch.
This season our lads can go into to town after the game with their shirts on and still as smell lemon fresh as before.
So what is it? Fear of success? Fear of failure? Fear of a hostile media baiting a manager they don’t like? We’re the easiest target for this week’s cheap jibes and negative stories after all.
Yes, you can point to the manager and certain tactics and team selections but that group of players gets more points than they have now. Our captain is a European Cup winning captain. He’s carried worse teams than this. Our goalkeeper has won clean sheet awards but has forgotten how to dive. Our new signings are all internationals. Our Uruguayan star centre forward may well be the best player in his country, maybe his continent so he must know what he’s doing? So what’s going wrong? Why are they pissing away an opportunity like LFC?
Ah, it’ll be Kenny then. Kenny’s taken a bunch of players who are better than an eighth position in the table and made them a 50 point side. He’s bought badly and wasted money on dross. I’m not entirely disagreeing with that argument to a certain extent but I want more from a team of internationals who are happy with the money but less so when it comes to getting it together on the pitch.
I also don’t want to be in the ridiculous situation where, and I can’t believe I’m typing this, I’m having to defend Kenny Dalglish to Liverpool fans on fan forums. That sentence is abhorrent and Microsoft Word should run a squiggly line below it to show that I’ve made a grammatical or syntax error. Having to defend Kenny Dalglish to Liverpool. How did it come to this?
No one is above criticism and I can see why he chooses to protect the players and their eggshell-like confidence rather than subject them to a torrent of abuse but Kenny Dalglish deserves more time to turn this around.
If he relegates us next season I’d still want him at the helm because he’s giving me far more than I could ever give back in return.
It’d never come to that and he’d walk away if he felt he was harming an institution he loves which is far more than can be said for the players. They can walk whenever they want. They can go now. I’m not sure what we’d be losing if they left this very minute.
If Kenny Dalglish left, or was forced out, we’d lose the one man who is the personification of everything the club stands for. No man is bigger than the club?
He is the fucking club and for every smiffly, whiny ‘I’m-getting-stick-off-the-lads-in-work’ anus who lines up against him I’ll have an army to face them.
Yes, things are bad. Actually they’re absolutely shite but this club is the greatest because it doesn’t believe in short term appointments, just hard work. Kenny’s got a massive job on his hands even if he finishes the season with two trophies and the players have got a lot of waking up to do.
They could also do with a little anger.
If we could get the players to read this I think it could make a difference. They need reminding of what they are, and how lucky they are to be doing it where they are doing it.
P.S you would only give 1 spud Karl?
YNWA.
Decent
“but this club is the greatest because it doesn’t believe in short term appointments”
Not this year, but it suited many to believe in short term appointments last year remember?
Remember all the polls that were run asking should Woy get the sack?
Remember the abuse journalists got for advocating that a manager be given time to turn things around?
Remember everybody saying if we didnt act immediately we were fucked?
‘Imagine the season we could have had if we had gotten Kenny in sooner!’ was the cry online!
No of course nobody remembers that, hypocrites rarely remember what they said before now.
Id never advocate a short term appointment, especially not a legend like The King, but to all you people who were screaming like hysterical children over Roy Hodgson LAST YEAR, yet try to act like true loyal reds NOW?
You look like idiots, and this current feeling of supporter empowerment and short term thinking was started by YOU last year.
This is called reaping what you sow.
Have a word with yourself Al, a small percentage wanted hodgeson in charge and that percentage became smaller with his dire pre/post match defeatist comments and his dire football, a massive percentage wanted kenny in charge and see the bigger picture
What utter drivel are you spouting about Al?
Roy Hodgson (you know, Fergies mate who didn’t support our star striker after the Manc game) was never a Liverpool manager, was never good enough and never will be. To try and compare Woy as manager with the Kenneth is like comparing Toy Poodle to a Great Dane.
There are a million and one reasons why your comments are purile and completely worthless so I won’t go into any detail. If you can’t see the difference between the two you’re an idiot or being deliberately obtuse.
Utter drivel to support the club even through the darkest of times last year? Im sorry I dont have the luxury you have, that ability to pick and choose which particular parts of the football club you want to support whenever it suits you.
“There are a million and one reasons why your comments are purile and completely worthless so I won’t go into any detail.” Basically this sums you up, all vitriol no substance. This is the cult like mentality that has gotten more intense over the last three years. You GENUINELY think if anybody believes in anything other than whatever insane quasi-religious mental image of LFC that you have formulated in your mind, that their opinion doesnt matter. Well wake up. Because at no point did I compare the two managers, I pointed out hypocrisy in fans” like you.
So spare me the faux indignation, I support the CLUB in good times AND bad. And unlike you, not just when it suits me to do so.
So wanting the most inappropriate manager in our history out and the club’s third most successful manager to be given more time and support is short termism?
No it is your opinion. Its an absolutely mental opinion but its yours none the less.
I support Liverpool FOOTBALL Club, you worship some self imagined cult like ideal. Now in the real world Liverpool FC play FOOTBALL and the point of a FOOTBALL club is winning FOOTBALL matches.
You have stated that your happy to have Kenny as manager EVEN if he relegates us and you personally believe that “He is the fucking club..” and you have “army” to fight (supposedly) fellow reds who disagree with you.
You are clearly missing perspective on the issue. I know its nice to feel superior because you are cultivating the belief that you have a deeper connection to the club than those of us who DARE criticise The King, but do you think Kenny sits about thinking “I AM LIVERPOOL!”? As the man himself has said that he is not bigger than the club, not only do I think your a bit mental, but I’d wager Kenny does too.
Listen I have no idea at exactly what point you confused Liverpool FOOTBALL Club with a cult ruled by those who scream loudest and longest, and where any independant thought is equal to betrayal, but if you have any ambition for the FOOTBALL club to i dont know, actually win FOOTBALL matches consistantly, you need to grow up. Constructive criticism is a vitally important function in life, its how people and even football clubs grow, evolve and learn from their mistakes.
If your looking to support an entity that that has a divine right to be successful and has a figurehead who sits over us all beyond reproach, you can find all you want in the North Korean FA.
I’ll put this simply:
Fuck off and die you bellend.
Kenny is about a million times better a man than that owl-faced self-satisfied arsehole.
Fuck what the media say. We were right, they were wrong so fuck off.
Totally agreed Neu75. Anyone who can’t see the difference between keeping Uncle Woy on as manager and keeping Kenny is a bell end.
Simples
Utterly ridiculous appointment in the first place. No different to Everton bringing back Howard Kendall. Kenny is an aged old relic and out of his depth in top flight modern day football. His bad buys (£100m+) beggar belief !
This sums up all that’s wrong with the cult like thinking of far too many,
I’d trust Dalglish understands that he is not bigger than the club, anything other would suggest a rampant ego that I don’t believe he possesses.
Its been a horrid season, one largely informed by rank bad judgment and confused strategies. I no longer have any idea what the manager is trying to achieve even, with depleted resources. The players look equally clueless and that is surely due to a lack of leadership both on and off the pitch. If Kenny is a man manager rather than a technocrat then why are so many players not working for the manager (never mind the scrapping and jersey throwing we saw at St James Park)?
On the other hand watching the reserves is quite like the old days of the first team – everyone knows their job and does their best to fulfill same under the guidance of Rodolfo Borell. It doesn’t always win the game of course but you see the plan. Kenny doesn’t seem to have one. Is LFC now 4-4-2 or not? British “hoofball” or continental “technique”?
Abso-fucking-lutely.
Al
There’s always Chelsea, if you feel that strongly
Er, if you like.
Kenny’s shit. Let’s get the flavour of the month in instead.
I’m not saying I’m superior than anyone, can’t find a sentence where I’ve even hinted at that.
Kenny Dalglish stands for what I believe in which coincides with what I believe LFC stands for. That’s my penance as well as being my biggest pride.
I support my club and my legend at the same time because they’re linked.
First of all I don’t call for ANY managers head. As I said beforehand.
Secondly and most worryingly… Kenny stands for what you believe in… what the fuck are you on about?
Because the rest of us are talking about FOOTBALL. You know? The game where people kick balls around?? Is it formations you believe in? Attacking passing football?
Actually why don’t you explain what you believe in, what Kenny stands for, and what LFC stands for?
So let’s review…
Because I have said that I don’t scream for ANY LFC managers head….
Because I believe that debate amongst supporters is a good thing…
And because I point out hypocrisy in some of the commenting on our current situation…
I get told to fuck off and die, and get advised to just support Chelsea…
Thank both of you for making my point better than I ever could. Two perfect examples of incoherent, aggressive and mindlessly abusive kids.
I personally have no problem with the argument your trying to make but the tone you use in making that argument isn’t doing you any favors. There seems to be two camps here. Those who believe in holding on to Kenny for another season and those who feel we have made a mistake in bringing him back. Maybe a third that is simply frustrated at our difficulties on the pitch but still want Kenny to stick around. Its as sensitive a subject as it gets at Liverpool FC and it was always the risk we were taking bringing him back, that there would be such a huge divide if things turn sour. As you say, at times like this debate is essential, but the need to keep that debate civil is even more important.
Sacking managers is divisive. I am still pissed off that Benitez got the elbow, but if we sack Kenny, what will it achieve? Only more I-told-you-so and whataboutery next year when the new man goes on a bad run. Having said that I won’t be drinking the kool-aid thanks, because despite what we read and hear, no man, indeed not even a legend, IS LFC, and King Kenny (long live his name) would be the first to agree with this.
ferd
If you need to be told what LFC stands for you’re beyond my words and I mean that in the politest sense. It’s more than football though.
Maybe that’s my credo and no one else’s.
Wow so you manage to avoid answering a simple question AND you still maintain your sense of superiority. Impressive.
But the reality is your excellent at regurgitating cultish nonsense but when it actually comes down to it there’s no substance to what your saying. The simple fact is that it IS just football. It’s Liverpool FOOTBALL club. The goal for this football club is to win trophies, and while I treasure the Carling Cup win that’s simply not enough for a club like Liverpool.
So you back to your army and enjoy the fantasy world of messiahs and higher purposes you’ve built up for yourself, me and what looks like the majority on here will continue to support our FOOTBALL club, and engage in constructive debate on how this club gets back to what it does best. Actually winning things.
Karl
Just curious, but how did you feel when Benitez got the push?
Ferd
Al
You just don’t get it chief, move on…
When Roy was coach it was anger towards him. When its Kenny as coach it is anger at the players. Is there smthing wrong there. The club is more important than Kenny or any other one players. If we are not ruthless, winning the league wont happen. Kenny has used up all his goodwill with his terrible buys. Even i could have bought below avg English players for millions over their market price. Whose fault is that. Holy Comilli is just as bad if he doesnt have the balls to recommend better players and runs with Kennys horrible buys. This is Kenny’s team . His losses and his head that should roll. 7 loses in NOT acceptable even if we are playing with reserves. Tolerating this leadership is doing damage to our history. We have become a joke. Kenny made us a joke..
Karl, first of all ‘if he relegates us next season I’d still want him at the helm’. FSG won’t, and will sack him. You’d probably protest, but frankly, you’d cut a lone figure waving your scarf outside Anfield whilst caterwauling ‘YNWA’.
To yourself.
Secondly, ‘Dalglish is God’ is a risibly funny banner, not a piece of religious dogma.
Thirdly, we can all run around shouting insults at each other, and I for one think Al makes a lot of sense, but the reality of the situation is this:
The two men running the club we love had a strategy that, in their minds, would have given the team stability and a measure of success.
They bought the players they felt would help drive that strategy.
Unfortunately, four of those players haven’t been good enough to deliver what Dalglish and Comolli expected from them.
Both KD and DC would know from experience that one of them might not perform to his supposed ability week in week out.
But all four?
Let’s face it, shit happens, but to have Downing, Carroll, Adam and Henderson all go ability-negative at the same time is so tragically sad it’s almost funny.
Finally. Dalglish needs support. The man isnae stupid – unlike Hodgson who actually didn’t know where it all went wrong.
He needs us to back him. He needs to know that we know he’s fucked up, but that we trust him to put it right.
We can argue all we like on the internet, but on the terraces we have to be as one.
We have to back the team.
Anything less and we’re as spineless as those players who between them have let this great club down.
Great points here.
Something I had failed to mention but you nailed it. Constructive criticism and debate is all well and good, but support(especially on match days) is vital. It would kill me if people started chanting for a new manager on a match day after the service Kenny has given this club.
I do support the team. Vociferously in fact.
Oh, and I loved Rafa, Ferd.
“He needs us to back him. He needs to know that we know he’s fucked up, but that we trust him to put it right.”
Well said.
I get what you’re saying about the players, I’ve thought they’ve lacked fight for a while now but I get confused when people say they’d see us get relegated and still want the same man at the helm, after all the knock on effects relegation would bring.
It’s not that I’m saying Kenny must go, I don’t want us to turn into another Chelsea where managers are not given any time. But with that being said, I’ve been listening to the Anfield Wrap on a regular basis now and the term ‘Stupid Football’ seems to be a common phrase used on there, and one I agree with. Lately none of the players seem to know what their role is, what they’re supposed to be doing out there. Good players don’t just turn bad overnight, so what has caused this to happen, and for players to suddenly appear not to have a clue?
Kenny (although not alone) must take a share of the blame, after all, he is the man that is supposed to be telling them what to do out there and if they’re lacking in confidence, it’s his job to help instill this back into them.
If he relegates us, which I don’t think for one minute this will happen, but if it were to, then whatever Kenny is doing is not working, so how can you have the faith to believe that he will put it right? Just as good players don’t turn bad over night, managers don’t just have a sudden realization on how to change something.
Like I say, I’m not gunning for Kenny’s head, but current performances make it hard to defend the team, how far do you let the rot set in before it gets too deep?
Ultimately he’d know when he’s in over his head as he’s done before for a very different reason.
If he walked I could live with it but if he’s forced while he has something to give I’d be very fucked off.
We played some lovely stuff at the end of last season with Jay and Lucas anchoring with Maxi, Suarez and Meirieles marauding. I think ultimately that’s the sort of set up he wants but Lucas’ injury has unbalanced the team.
I wouldn’t like to see him forced out either, however I also wouldn’t like to see us get relegated.
I agree that towards the end of last season we were playing better. We were also playing better at the start of the season, we were definitely creating more chances, if we were a bit more clinical then, I don’t think there would be this much unrest now.
We’re definitely missing Lucas, but as usual, we lack in depth, an issue that never seems to be adequately solved.
Selling Meirieles, benching Maxi and playing Adam may just have had something to do with unbalancing things, mind.
Our players are young lads who need coaching. They need to know what their specific roles are. They look confused, lost, not believing in themselves or frustrated with the teammates…
Here is an extract from what Fernando Torres says about Rafa:
“With Rafa Benitez I learned a lot. He is a coach who is very meticulous and who can identify small but very important details that no-one else sees to enable you to score. I worked with him a lot individually and I think we saw the benefit of this on the pitch”.
“Rafa taught me to demand the maximum of myself every day and never to relax. When you are in a team that is doing well the players tend to relax, but you should always push yourself, never relax and try to give your maximum every day. You can’t stop after scoring 20 goals and say ‘Done it, there you are’. After scoring 20 goals for Benitez’s team he comes to you in training and pushes you more every day, all week. He shows you more drills. There are days when you think ‘Good God, this bloke doesn’t let me breathe’. There are times when you don’t realise that he only wants you to improve, to progress in life, to never stop, and you need a person close to you to help you do it. You can’t do it any other way. He calculates everything, the movements and the long passes, and he studies it all on his computer. If he tells you to move a couple of yards from the penalty spot, you do it because he teaches you that using the extra space is the difference between scoring and missing a chance”.
And here is a moment from the Sunday’s game when JonJo Shelvey had to shout at Carroll for he was standing and watching instead of running and supporting his attack:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKRYlVJ_EHU&feature=player_embedded
Now tell me guys, whose job is it to tell Carroll (and the other players) where they need to be and what they need to do.
I honestly believe that with these same players that we have, Rafa would have made a winning team. Because they are, initially, not shit players. But they need to progress. And what we see is a degradation. And as much as I am affectionate about the man and sorry to say it, it is Kenny’s fault. He won’t be able to turn things around, I don’t believe he is capable of doing it.
Well said. On the evidence of this season, Kenny and SC don’t appear to be technically sophisticated enough to deliver Premiership success let alone achieve in the Champions League WHEN we get there again. In the absence of unlimited money and/or Alex Ferguson in the dug-out (hard to swallow I know but true) you do need it. This is not to suggest that Kenny and the coaching staff are sitting at Melwood wondering what on earth to do and not coming up with anything. Though in my gloomier moments I’m reminded of his record with Blackburn post-title, in the CL, at Newcastle and Celtic … Above and beyond all else, no one will crave success for LFC more than KD. If he feels he is not capable of delivering he’ll not only step aside but make sure the best replacement is found.
Regardless of who is in charge, I look at the Rangers situation and see a club that broke itself chasing success..Celtic went through a situation as well trying to compete, but were forced to rectify their financial situation, knowing that a firm foundation would reap rewards in the long run. After H&G, I think all LFC fans will agree that this foundation will be the thing we need to get right before we shoot for the top of the league. I, as a 38 year fan am perfectly willing to see 2 or even 3 years of rebuilding, as long as it leads us to the position where we can compete with the richest clubs in Europe in a sustainable fashion. Sustainable. We have a huge global following, and I will be damned if I will offset long term sustainable success with chasing short term gain. Of course CL is the target, but what about an expanded stadium?
What about bringing about the situation where we can have a clear and transparent chance of buying a ticket for a match? 38 years I have supported this club, from before we won our first European Cup, and I have been exceptionally lucky, both in terms of footballing success, but also in knowing that I follow a club that prizes discretion, loyalty, humility and commitment and depises in equal measure arrogance, hubris and intolerance. Someone asked earlier what does LFC stand for. Sadly I also cannot put this into words, but I can say that it goes beyond football, and I can say that Dalglish, Paisley, Moran, Evans, Benitez and Shankly had it. Houllier had it but Souness didn’t. Emlyn Hughes had it but Ruddock didn’t. Rob Jones had it, John Barnes had it. Of course it’s more than football, when you pick Liverpool, Liverpool also picks you.
And I loved Rafa too.
ferd
And one more thing…,. Did any of you see Guardiola tonight during their game v AC Milan?
He never stands still. I mean… the Barca players, who pass and move the ball with their eyes closed because they always know someone is around to get the pass…. he never stands still, he shouts, he tells them where to be, what to go, to move back, to move forward, to play wider, to play more compact, etc….
He’s not standing there and biting the collar of his jacket and looking confused… and then making a substitution just for the sake of it, and not to improve the game, after 79th minute….. just to give a lad ‘a wee bit of playing time’.
Well, i’ll tell you what, some of whats been said doesn’t half make me chuckle..
Some random thoughts…
1) Leave the passion at the door. We all love the club, willy waving isn’t going to help.
2) In the modern game a player is a flop if he doesn’t score 15 goals in a season. No one is given any time to bed in whatsoever. I don’t half miss the old days, Hendo & Adam would barely have seen the 1st team bench. Learning to play the Liverpool way seems to be taking more time for some than others. Please play Andy Carroll week in and week out. The scuffed chance and dive changed the game last week, it woke NU up. How different things could have been. But, given our options up front, we have nothing to lose. At least give the guy a chance to fail.
3) Poulsen’s legacy at the club still looms large at the club. Liverpool was in a right state when Kenny came in. Hodgson and his awful football, his undying love for Slur Alex in the press was more than enough to earn him the boot. Wrong man, wrong time, wrong attitude. Liverpools media handling of the Suarez drama showed it to be a club in the stone age, thank Poulsen for that. Commoli’s spurs buys didn’t come good until he’d LEFT the club. It doesn’t happen overnight, people need to realise this, even more so the press who by and large are just after another scalp. I dont care if we brought in Guardiola, Fergie, Wenger or Mourinho, there isn’t a manager alive who could have turned around the mess Liverpool were and still are in a season. Nor does throwing money at the problem work, as Man Utd. supporters who watched them through the 80’s…
4) If people are not performing, theres plenty of talent in the reserves and youth side. At this point in time what’s wrong with giving a few of them a punt? At the very least it should put the shits up some of the players. Competition for places is critical inside any squad, rotation will certainly help to keep players fresh and given that Torres lack of form coincided with him playing football almost non stop for 3 years. Rafa can and must take the blame for that. Rotating a squad is good, telling them where and and when they’re gonna get a break? not so. For these lads i’m talking about just a little taste, a look at whats going to be asked of them in the future, then turn around and say to these lads, right, thats what you want? go and work hard for it. Faith in some of these boys is what will eventually lead to joy in my opinion, Liverpool was a club built on hardworking and hungry young men with something to prove. That’s been forgotten along the way. :(
I’d give my left nut to see Rafa back, but I’d give my right one as well to see Kenny leave the job as a successful manager for the second time
If only I had more nuts.
ferd
Give Rafa Carroll for a few weeks coaching and we would see a massive difference in his performances.
This club has a soul, it goes beyond football, it has never just been about the game. Its lifted thousands out despaire, it’s a held a city up when others wanted it on its knees, it’s part of you’re persona, it’s a Football club and so much more, you get it or you don’t get it…
Kenny …. Has earned his chance to turn it around, name me one human being on this planet who deserves the job more then Kenny? Who derverves to be a cut some slack more the Kenny?
The players ? Their the fucking hired help. Fuck em. Cowards and pussies
This ‘debate’ petrifies me and is a microcosm of one of the main reasons why we are failing. Either believe and support the team and manager or shut the fuck up.
Given what has happened this season everyone has doubts and is entitled to their own opinion, but bandying that opinion around for the sake of it achieves nothing and ultimately every little negative thought drives us farther apart as fans which in turn passes over onto the pitch at the game and also through social media – all of which in turn merely fuels the bullshit reported in the papers and on SSN.
There are no short term solutions, but positivity and unity will slowly reap rewards.
Spot on Rob.
That’s a dangerously sensible view Rob.
The public image is limited in regards to LFC and Kenny.. Makes no difference to the press or media.
Spot on Rob. I wrote something on here to that effect even. I really don’t understand why people think that constantly berating the team and manager does any good. The negativity is infectious, so by continuing it, we are all only making things worse.
Are we all unhappy with the league form? Yes, no doubt. But how does walking around saying how shite Dalglish is, the players are, Comolli is etc. help anyone? We really need to start unifying again because it was when we did after Kenny came back last January, that the whole team, atmosphere, and results changed.
With all the hatred & shite that Kenny has had to put up with from the LFC hating media over the last year or so (just like Benitez before that) I’m sure the last thing he needs to see is gobshites (yes you AL) writing comments on sites like this. Of the three managers currently serving in the PL who have won the title he is 3 years younger than one & ten years younger than the other. I was at Eastlands in Nov 08 to see City V Spurs early in the days of Harry Rednap’s reign & both teams looked and absolute mess with all DC’s flops. A short time later & Harry is the best thing since sliced bread with Bale & Modric two of the best players in the country. I’m sure “fans” like Al stand there bellowing out you’ll never walk alone without ever even beginning to grasp what the meaning of the song & the symbolism of it means. I bet AL was on his way home at half time in Istanbul incase he’d be embarrassed by this club, or it’s cult of supporters. Well Al it is the YNWA spirit that real LFC fans have that is the envy of every other football club supporter in the world, & that’s why Manc’s & bluenoses hate us so much. Very little has gone the way of LFC this year. It started with the media attack on Ian Ayres for making a very genuine comment about football finances & continued through LFC being targeted by the FA, their referee’s & a very hostile press. LFC inc has lots of lessons to learn about PR, Media control, & the politics of the FA that can help in the long run, we cannot afford to continue to make mistakes on or off the field.
