The Anfield Wrap this week has a new band in Lilium and a new contributor in Nick Illingsworth of Ugly Inside Fanzine to talk about Southampton.
However there is also the same old bullishness of Gareth Roberts, studied class of Ian Salmon and stable young hand of Josh Sexton joining Neil Atkinson. All the fun of the fair. Up the Reds.
Better than Netflix and two quid cheaper per month!
Tough game and it wouldn’t be the end of the World if we drew this. Of course, I want us to take the game to Soton and try and win it, though.
Thanks for this. I was really worried about us losing this game but after hearing Gareth I’m still worried. Not.
Hi.
Great show but has started repeating what’s been said, every few minutes. Don’t know why.
Cheers and thanks for the show.
The main thing that Klopp has done is banish the ghosts from the club. Bringing back Gerrard would feel like a foolish about-turn at a time when everything is going right.
The only thing Gerrard was good at was being Steven Gerrard. Like Ryan Giggs, he simply does not have the intelligence to manage a Premier League club, let alone an elite one.
If you want a local lad who understands the culture of both the club and the city, who has devoted their life to both, who has an IQ about 30 points higher than our former captain and who has the mental ability to quickly grasp and communicate the sort of advanced concepts that have propelled Klopp to the game’s summit, I can name you two!
Both Neil Atkinson and John Gibbons would make better interns, than Stevie! I would back either to make a decent fist of the job, if they had the chance to work under Klopp for 5 years. But all great managers are former top-class players, right? I’m only half-joking and even if I was completely taking the p***, it’s what you should expect if you are seriously talking about Stevie as a future manager.
Gerrard was like a daft spaniel that would run around the garden for hours on a hot day. The sort you could continue to fool by pretending to throw the tennis ball and then hiding it behind your back. If he returns, give him the job of driving the mower because you can guarantee he would cover every blade of grass.
The next boss needs to be someone as smart as Jurgen Klopp. That means he almost certainly won’t be an ex-footballer – at least not an English one.
Have you not noticed that literally nobody attacks Klopp? Not the media, not other managers, players, or even Man United fans. He looks like an insane geography teacher, whose wife kicked him out and made him homeless 3 weeks ago, yet nobody laughs.
That’s the sort of respect you get, when literally everyone recognises that (as well as having great integrity) you are a lot brighter than they are. Let’s hope his tenure teaches us to be smart, as well.
