SIMON Mignolet has insisted he doesn’t want to sit on the bench and hopes he will be recalled for Liverpool’s game against Manchester United.
The Belgian started the Reds’ first five league games of the season before being replaced by summer signing Loris Karius for the visit of Hull City, after he had returned from a broken hand sustained on the club’s pre-season tour.
Liverpool are yet to keep a clean sheet in the league this season but Mignolet has insisted he feels confident that he will be given the chance due to his good start to the season.
Mignolet told Belgian reporters: “I didn’t play the last two weeks and I don’t want it to be any longer.
“I look at it positively. I hope to play against United. I still feel confident because of my good league start. Against Arsenal, Tottenham and Leicester I have been important for the team by making some good saves.
“I have the advantage that the game against United is only Monday so I can have a full preparation.
“I don’t know what the coach will decide. I can just prepare myself 100%. Whether I play or not, nothing will change my match preparation. It is not in my character to not give 100%.”
Meanwhile, Karius has come under criticism for his below-par performance against Swansea but he insists that his preparation ahead of the game won’t change, whether he is starting or not.
He told Premier League Productions: “Sometimes you know [if you are starting] earlier, sometimes you don’t.
“Most of the players don’t know the day before, but it’s not really a problem.
“You prepare for the game anyway so it doesn’t really make a difference if you know a month before, a week before, a day before, because it won’t really change anything in your training.”

This is a tough one for me. Migs has had a decent start and I would feel more confident with him in goal, especially due to Karius looking shaky over the last couple of games. But I understand he may be nervous and just needs game time. Whatever Klopp decides will work for me… YNWA!
No clean sheet this season. I suppose if Mingolet is picked that will continue. Karius on the other hand may just need the few games he’s had to go on a run of clean sheets. Give him a chance to prove himself now.
