Neil Atkinson is joined for yet another TAW Special show by Jason McAteer to talk about his book ‘Blood, Sweat & McAteer’.
The book details his career from being plucked from Marine AFC by Bolton Wanderers, signing for his his boyhood club Liverpool FC, his career with the Irish national team including the infamous summer of Saipan in 2002, through to the leaving of Liverpool and the devastating impact retirement had on him after leaving Tranmere Rovers.
In a fourty-five minute chat as honest as the book, it’s essential listening for the international break.

Lads, youre killing it ! Great pod again, i nearly dont want the international break to end.
Jason McAteer used to work in my local! Learn something knew everyday.
lads.. just to echo the sentiment of the first poster, Robert. I don’t think there’s ever been a week with such a consistently high level of content coming out of TAW – and this during the intl break. The Marine interview with the lads who ‘didn’t make it’, Pro View, WWCH0 07/08, this interview with McAteer, stuff around Klopp one year on.. this is seriously good stuff. I actually try & listen to most of the content and undoubtedly the Pink, the main show and the Tuesday review can start to morph a little into one another simply cos they’re essentially about the same subject matter… and that’s fine cos it’s all about the games.. but the content this break is fantastic and if you replicate this during future breaks then maybe this Interstellar time warp thing between games won’t be just as bad.. well played
Excellent that. Sounds like a nice bloke.
Absolutely loved this podcast. It’s easy to have a pop at ‘rich footy players’ ( and it usually happens in an Olympic year but I can’t imagine how it must feel at the start of a new season when you’ve been released. Now really looking forward to reading the book. Very well handled from Neil
