Neil Atkinson is joined by Paul Senior and Sean Rogers for our in-depth look back at Liverpool’s victory over Swansea at the Liberty Stadium.
Liverpool came from a goal behind to secure a hugely important three points without being anywhere near as convincing as they have been of late with a performance that simultaneously answered some massive questions of this Liverpool side whilst also asking some concerning new ones.
Liverpool for the League? Maybe, just maybe….
Good discussion but….Karius will always stay on the line that’s who he is. At Mainz, he always stayed on the line. It’s all fine to discuss what this or that GK did or might do, the question I didn’t hear a discussion around was: how does LIV deal with corners knowing the GK stays on his line.
That last ball at Swansea should have been the keeper’s but Karius was indecisive and sort of came out and then went back. We all must know that Migs would have come for that (whether he got it or not….) so then Karius must either be more important to the build up play and shit will happen at crosses/corners or Migs might be back in.
I’m with Neil.. you can’t doubt results and Firminho is our best player. He has to be first on the team sheet. But I still want to see Sturridge on the pitch. He’s better at pressing & link up play than peoplet think.
Compare Sturridge to Mane’ and to Firmino, and tell me again how presses as hard and as energetically, and how he fights for every ball as much as they do.
Sturridge’s talent is second to none. His application is not always as it should be.
I thought karius’s distribution in the match was very good in general. There were a lot of times Swansea pressed us to playing back to the keeper after we had good procession and karius recycled the ball, when mignolet would of put it out for a throw in.
I think this helped tire them out and stopped them getting momentum from this. In terms of being decisivery on crosses he was poor but then again it wasn’t any different to mignolet in recent years.
