IT’S the day after the night before, which means it’s the day after Big Fat Sam was sacked as England boss but more importantly it means that we’re another day closer to watching Jürgen’s Mighty Reds be good at football.

While we’re on the Allardyce thing, was a bit mad that Brendan Rodgers called him a “poor guy” and talked about him walking into a trap. Mad because it suggests Sam had no choice but to agree to the secret meetings. Or that he didn’t know he had to keep his nose squeaky clean, you know being the manager of the England football team and that. The undercover journalists are trying to rid of corruption in the game not ruin football. Sam agreed to be a part of a dodgy deal so he got the sack.

PFA Fans’ Player Of The Month

Onto more pressing matters, like the Reds. Sadio Mane has already received another accolade, or more recognition of the fact that he’s boss at footy, winning the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award for August/September.

Mane has caused a number of Liverpool fans to swallow their words, as many wanted to see Mario Gotze at the club rather than the former Southampton man, as he’s slotted in perfectly and is helping the team be as boss as they can be.

Long may it continue.

Ayre’s Favourite Signing

Some quotes knocking around from Ian Ayre’s interview in this month’s edition of FC Business magazine, including developments on the progress of developments to the Anfield Road end.

He’s also been talking about his time at the club, as he is set to leave next summer, and the process of signing players. He said: “My favourite signings have included Philippe Coutinho. I remember sitting in the corridors of Inter Milan for the CEO for what felt like five days, trying to convince him to sell Coutinho to us, and then jetting him back to Liverpool in time to sign before transfer deadline day.

“Of course, there are some signings that unfortunately don’t come off but the experiences you never forget — sitting in the Ukraine on the day war broke out, trying to sign Ukrainian Yevhen Konoplyanka which sadly never got done because of the selling club.”

Forgot about that Konoplyanka situation. Bizarre, that was.

TAA: Clyne Is League’s Best Right-Back

Under-23s star Trent Alexander-Arnold has enjoyed a great start to the season, having had the opportunity to feature in the Reds’ pre-season tour and be in and around the first team on several occasions. He’s also been picking up a few tips from Nathaniel Clyne.

Trent said: “I’m trying to watch him and learn how good he is because he’s probably the best right back in the league for me, defensively and going forward. He’s so consistent in everything he does. I want to still play the way I play but if I can learn things from him then I’ll try and do that every day.”

Keep it up, lad. Reckon we’ve got a boss player on our hands, here.

Studge On The Move?

Some mad rumours get dashed about in this internet age we live in. This might be the pinnacle, if we’re being honest. Daniel Sturridge is being linked — about as tenuously as it can get, it must be said — with the likes of Stoke City, West Ham and Sunderland.

I’ll let the man himself take this one:

Today’s Reads

Firstly, Phil Blundell has penned his weekly column and he’s talking about how the doubters are being proved wrong by Jürgen Klopp’s ‘square pegs in round holes’ Reds. Read that here.

Then, Gibbo spoke to Michael Beale recently, who interestingly revealed that the Reds Under-23s would have entered a team into the controversial EFL Trophy had the games been “right”, which you can read here.

Finally, Robbo has been looking at Klopp’s recent appearance on Monday Night Football and suggests why it might benefit the boss to be getting involved with the media. Read it here.
