IN the last hour Independent journalist Simon Hughes has exclusively revealed that an investment group supported by the Chinese state government is attempting to purchase Liverpool for £700million.
As the story was breaking Simon very kindly came to speak to The Anfield Wrap about the proposal from SinoFortone, their ambitious plan for Liverpool Football Club and the reaction it has received from Fenway Sports Group.
In a free clip from the show we talk about who SinoFortone are and the range of their considerable investments.
From a guy who’s worked with these guys…
“I did work with SynoHydro building the infrastructure for Lusail City in Qatar, and I would pick FSG over them a thousand times out of a thousand.
You’ve had lots of complaints about FSG and then welcome Syno from China who you don’t seem to know much about.
I’d have Hicks back first!”
It’s actually worrying the amount of people who would gladly take money from what is basically the Chinese government, who make Thatchers tories look like Amnesty International. We can justify it to ourselves anyway we want, “all money at this level is dirty,if it’s not us it will be somebody else” but we’re a club built on socialist principles in a city with proud socialist roots.Players come and go,as do owners but if we’re willing to accept success bought and paid for by some of the most disgusting people on the planet then what are we actually supporting? A badge, and not much else because whatever you think of FSG,having them as owners doesn’t destroy that part of our identity, taking the Chinese governments money definitely would.
