AFTER a sun-soaked low-key affair against Watford at Anfield, Gareth Roberts is joined by Peter Hooton, Rob Gutmann, Ian Salmon and Johnny Milburn to talk about matters arising in TAW’s baking-hot Liverpool studio.
With eight changes to the Liverpool side that conquered Villarreal, what does the selection of the shadow side v Watford say about the futures of those involved? A man by man assessment follows – will Joe Allen win a new deal? What about Lucas – is his future at centre half or is it away from Anfield? What about Martin Skrtel? How good is Sheyi Ojo? And what of Jordon Ibe?
After another solid showing and a quality save, can we now see a scenario where Simon Mignolet kicks off next season as Liverpool’s No.1 goalkeeper?
The panel also discuss the fuss around the Europa League final, the ticket and venue situation and how Jürgen Klopp could handle two fairly meaningless league fixtures before the big one in Switzerland.
The 75-minute bumper free show ends with discussion of the BBC2 Hillsborough documentary. A must-watch for anyone with an interest in the topic.
Great show as always! Fellas!!
How can I blag a taw cup Robbo!?
Watched the press conference where Klopp explained about the players not touching the Anfield sign, I think it was pre Dortmund. Apparently someone from Dortmund had asked him about it and he said that he didn’t know how it was meant to work because the players weren’t touching it from when he arrived. He thought it was probably that the players subconsciously didn’t feel worthy of it, and that they would have to win something first.
There was definitely a message to the players there as he brought it up quite deliberately but I took it as him encouraging them to go out and be worthy of touching it rather than being a disciplinarian about it.
Hey there, while looking for the Hillsborough Dan Gordon doc you talked about (I only got the shorter ESPN version, as I’m not allowed to get the BBC iplayer version… the IPlayer or whatever is restricted geographically), I found another one. It’s 3 parts, and the first one is okay, the other 2 are amazing, and amazingly sad… here’s #2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Am6vmX9SuOY
