YEAH, that was rubbish. Going to put as much effort into this as the players did.
Danny Ward: 7
Conceded three but still our best player. Couple of really good saves. Should maybe come for the first, but others were more at fault.
Nathaniel Clyne: 6
Thought he was ok. Some good tackles and didn’t make me tear any hair out like some others.
Martin Skrtel: 5
Seems to be around for a lot of these, doesn’t he?
Dejan Lovren: 6
Mixed day. A really good block at 0-0, but then some dodgy moments, too. But two games in quick succession. Others didn’t have that excuse…
Brad Smith: 4
Looked nailed on to get sent. Defensive side of his game still worrying.
Kevin Stewart: 5
Stop shooting. Didn’t do loads wrong but we probably need better.
Pedro Chirivella: 5
Felt for him, as he started well but quickly deteriorated as it unravelled around him. A good case in point that youth needs to be mixed with experience.
Jordon Ibe: 4
In the TV show Red Dwarf they described the theory that there are infinite parallel universes where every different life eventuality is played out. In one of those infinite parallel universes Jordon Ibe did something useful today.
Philippe Coutinho: 4
Looked furious he was dragged to south Wales for this.
Sheyi Ojo: 5
Ran with it well a couple of times. Assist.
Daniel Sturridge: 5
Some quick feet when we could get it to him, but hardly forced the manager’s hand for Thursday.
SUBS
Christian Benteke: 6
Scores a good goal and looked a decent threat. The wingers seemed pleased he was there.
Lucas Leiva: 4
Looks done to me as a central midfielder under Klopp. Pretty dreadful for their third.
Cameron Brannagan: n/a
Sorry mate, I was watching my mate’s kid firing a toy into my pint glass by then.
Am I being generous to say that not one player gives Lucas a ‘man on’ shout?. If no one tells you someone is running to tackle you from behind them you assume that you have the time?
Taught the very same about 5 could give him shout and no one does still poor play but if he gets a shout it doesn’t happen . Taught he did ok apart from that
Yeah that’s what I thought, anybody gives a shout there, he’s offloading that ball.
He didn’t, he got caught. About the only thing he did wrong and it’s worth a 5 and a closing down of a career. Strange but hey ho personal opinions and all that!.
Skrtel 5!
Lucas didn’t get a shout and got caught, the fact that there was f*ck all movement ahead of him didn’t help either. He comes on and we immediately look more solid, have some incisive passes forward and he at least offered the defence some protection. Our ball possession improved too. The guy gave his best, did more than OK given the circumstances but you write him off. I’m sure Klopp won’t.
100% agree. We looked miles better second half when he was at least looking to ping it forward. He looks bad for the third but he had zero movement ahead of him – and they still wouldn’t have scored if Skrtel hadn’t been back there making at least three mistakes in the space of 20 seconds. Which was about his average for the game tbf
Agree with James & Frankie. Lucas may not be a first 11 next season, but he will still be a useful squad member as a cover for DM and Central Defender roles.
Skrtel getting cained today. Booby Moore and Maldini would have looked like bums with that non-existent midfield in front of them today.
Today is not a day for individual match ratings…
Days like today require one to take the emergency hammer of humiliation off the wall, break the great glass pane of sorrow, and grab the hessian sack of shame from within… LFC I give you Four Big Bags O’Dicks out of five.
Oh alright let’s hammer the kids in centre mid then. As opposed to the veteran centre back and captain who headed fresh air.
Martin Skrtel: -5
Can’t believe I set my alarm to watch that glue sniffer back off to allow the opposition player 20 minutes to line up the shot for something like the 100th time in his 8 and a half seasons at Liverpool. Will he ever learn? Will we? Not a good hangover cure.
Knew we were getting turned over as soon as I seen he was playing. For the love of Christ someone show him the door this summer.
Same here. 7am start where I am.
Every single time. Just backs off and backs off. Have a dig lad. You’ll never score from th- oh.
Actually really annoyed at Sakho after that. Without his absolute idiocy, we’d never have had to see that clown within 100 miles of the first team again
YOUR Lucas comments are a disgrace our best player thurs was excellent before he gave ball away but was still one mistake compared to loverns 8 mistakes your an idiot sorry had to say it
It’s not like there were multiple occasions, after Lucas was caught in possession and dispossessed, for the remaining players to actually give a creditable impression of being competent professional defenders.
I am sure John G. is making sure his positive bias for Lucas does not show, so he goes all the way the other way.
*You’re
So, so embarrassing. Their third goal, which was so very predictable, was the most ridiculous, comedic and frankly funny sequence of defensive play I have seen in years. The ratings are right, Skrtel is always at the scene of the crime on days like this, but others cannot be excused either.
Good fucking grief. Flush this one down the loo and let’s bring on Thursday night.
Klopp needs to stop whinging about the number of games. He has 22 players to rotate. The problem isn’t the number of games the problem is we have owners who can’t afford or won’t pay for 22 players who can compete in all the competitions in English footie.
Instead of whinging in pressers, he should be whinging to the owners.
Bona Fide mid table.
And if we do manage to get into the CL via the back door, bow the fuck can we compete on the league and the CL with this squad and these fucking owners?
Ibe was fucking awful, Smith was awful, Skrtel was Skrtel, Ojo has the speed to beat people but chose not to, Chirivella was so out of his depth it was embarrassing, Stewart was a bit better but was also pretty poor.
We played better when Lucas came on, at least we held the ball up better.
Why do we only employ small goalkeepers that have no size presence in the box?
We gambled, we lost – Thursday is more important at this time.
“Lucas Leiva: 4
Looks done to me as a central midfielder under Klopp. Pretty dreadful for their third.”
John Gibbons, ladies and gentlemen. Once claimed on a podcast that Lucas was his favorite current LFC player.
Good one!
The two things aren’t mutually exclusive mate. Just saying.
True, but it makes him rather fickle. Perhaps he’s adorning the mantle of the ‘modern fan’?
True, in principle, they’re not mutually exclusive.
That rating and that commentary are still indefensible, in my opinion.
Don’t get me wrong I think he’s sound and when he’s having a good game it’s brilliant, but why are you so obsessed with Lucas?
Do you always take your own impressions or judgments of others as fact and inquire as to their etiology?
And?
Lucas is STILL boss.
I think Gibbo meant Lucas 4 … president of the world.
When Liverpool aren’t arsed. We all are’nt arsed
