NEIL ATKINSON and Sean Rogers are joined by Paul Senior to discuss Liverpool’s 1-2 win against Bournemouth in the aftermath of their win against Borussia Dortmund.
The Reds have for only the third time this season won the league game after a Europa League game and one of the other occasions was last weekend. Is what Liverpool are doing differently having an impact or is it simply the nature of the opposition at this stage of the season?
Danny Ward made his debut – how did he do? But also, what will Klopp want to do? He was very clear post match he was impressed with the Welshman but he also doesn’t want to expose his players where possible.
Liverpool trusted in youth and got their rewards. Who impressed? Neil, Sean and Paul go through all this and more on our review show.

Great show, as ever.
Some thoughts:
1. Firmino wins the ball back a lot. Firmino loses the ball a lot. Firmino wins the ball back after losing the ball a lot. Are there any stats on this? Y’see, I have a theory that he wins the ball back from his own mistakes and that our stats boys didn’t pick up on this.
2. Sean’s dead right. He’s a Platt/John Wark type of player. He needs to improve or he should be a squad player (as a striker). We’ll learn a lot in the close season. If Gotze comes in, when does he get a game?
3. Origi/Sturridge. I’ve been arguing for some time that Sturridge has the skillset to become a shadow striker, Kenny to big Divvy’s Rushie. We might get over the tackling back conundrum by having the pair dovetail: Divvy does the tackling back while Daniel drifts around, much as Rushie did far more tackling back than Kenny. Divvy looks as though he has the energy and discipline for this role which would solve the midfield conundrum.
Origi and Sturridge are, on current form, better players than Firmino. He should be battling it out with Ings and any newcomers to be our no 3 striker next season. We can wheel him out for tactical purposes as discussed on the show. The really interesting thing is how high his ceiling is. Can he improve in the close season?
Firmino is in a decent position to lose and win the ball. Are there any stats on attacking players who lose the ball high and the opposition scoring from it? Point is, Firmino is in a better position to take risks and lose the ball. Added to that Firmino scores.
It’s Firmino’s first season and next season he should improve and may even cut out most of his risky play to be a player we can all ‘classify’. lol
