THE RIDER has Martin Fitzgerald from:
a) Being our friend
b) Ruth and Martin’s Album Club
on the show this week which is nice. He’s sort of talking about his book but more than that talking about where music journalism and criticism lets the side down that little bit, as well as the curse of cynicism. All the statements of the obvious that no one ever states are within.
As ever Neil Atkinson, John Gibbons, Stephanie Heneghan and Adam Medlia are living for a weekend they can barely remember. John has to work it out backwards. People have been going to the gigs for gig of the week. And there is more talk of Great Friday.
Could end up being the best Friday ever that.
One of them.
Ten great songs but you would have guessed that already. All aboard.

I kind of get when you read shoehorned in, broad 9/11 context written about like, The Strokes or Interpol because they’re New York bands who came out at that time but Coldplay… WTF? People should be ridiculed out of music journalism. Laughed out of the office.
Why have I not heard of Ruth & Martin’s Album Club before now? I blame you lot on the Rider.
After getting over the initial disappointment that it’s not available as a series of podcasts I’ve now ordered the book from unbound.
Martin’s voice is great can he just read it out?
