IF you leave on 77 minutes it’s hard to do this. If you leave on 77 in THAT game it’s even harder. We were 2-0 up and playing well and then, by all accounts, all that went out the window.
It shows a mental weakness in the team and a defensive fragility we have seen too often, empty grounds or not. Rarely have I been so proud of a Liverpool crowd. Rarely have I been so despondent with a Liverpool side. A funny time to be a Red.
Simon Mignolet: 4
I gather he was suspect post 77. His distribution was terrible pre 77.
Nathaniel Clyne: 6
Just a very 6 out of 10 Clyne performance.
Alberto Moreno: 7
Feel for him because we get on his back for end product, then he puts a gorgeous ball in first half that everyone misses. Was a good outlet.
Dejan Lovren: n/a
Stretched for one and got injured.
Mamadou Sakho: 5
Yeah we’re into ‘haven’t seen as much as you’ territory again. But fair to say he isn’t doing the business at the moment.
Joe Allen: 7
Real shame he had to go off. Was breaking forward really well. We missed playing him in a few times.
Emre Can: 5
He’s funny, Emre. Seemed to want to prove he can be a sensible player by doing largely nothing.
Jordan Henderson: 6
Better from Jordan. Looked happier within himself.
James Milner: 7
Did a great job out left for the team. Terrific ball for the first. Like *really* good.
Adam Lallana: 6
Quiet overall, but gets what should be the goal that seals it.
Roberto Firmino: 8
Everything he wasn’t on Tuesday. Lovely centre forward play for the first, and aggressive pressing for the second. He’s probably fuming.
SUBS
Kolo Toure: 6
Not easy coming on at centre half. Got up to speed very quickly.
Jordon Ibe: 7
It’s mad how easy he finds the stuff that almost every other footballer finds impossible. Strolled past defenders today.
Lucas Leiva: You tell me.
I gather he came on.
Squandered a 2 goal lead against annual relegation fodder…at least 5 of starting 11 shouldn’t be there next season.. Enough is enough.. Over paid psychologically weak journeymen..
Two of my mates and I walked out of the pub on the 77th min too, in solidarity with the fans in the stadium.
Our False 9 scored one and assist up one.
Our “False-1” gave away cheap goal just like that. I can’t believe how in the world we plan to win anything with this clown in goal?. does not command the box. can’t distribute properly, and now, can’t stop routine shots either.
Time for Ward to be given a start!!
Add to that … can’t set up a wall!
5 more years!? I can’t take it.
Does this mean the #MignoletImmunity club has disbanded?
ha…excellent point…After walking out from the pub, and looking on some streaming site how our False-1 let in that soft goal, yet again, I decided to let that #mignoletimmunity for one month walk too. Cheers.
Ha ha you were obviously too caught up in the euphoria of the penalty saves.
SOS got it wrong today. No matter how you spin it. Sorry man. Really like your writing and opinions on most stuff but today I’m struggling with the whole spectacle of discord amongst the fanbase and then between sections of the fanbase and FSG. Ticket pricing needs to be addressed but there are better ways to protest and the debate needs balance that takes into account FSG’s role in helping us out of the dark days of Gilette and Hicks and recognizes they are entitled to not have to run the club at a loss. Is it though that year on year ticket pricing increases ? Of course… But Match Day revenue is a vital part of the revenue stream for every club these days and we all know that if the club we love is to succeed at the highest level in the field it needs to be successful off the field as a commercial entity. Walking out on your team will just never sits right with me and the spectacle of those who stayed being bullied and harassed is nothing short of a disgrace. Just no doubting it had an impact on the lads shipping two late goals. I’ve loved and followed LFC for almost 40 years. What ever happened YNWA? The match ratings are honestly inconsequential given what occurred today.
i think you need to read this to understand what today was about:
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/liverpool-fan-protest-it-is-time-for-customers-to-fight-back-and-be-treated-as-fans-again-a6858106.html
Yes you’re right the extra £2m that FSG will screw out of us is “a vital part of the revenue stream”, As someone on RAWK observed, it’s 8 months of Enrique’s wages!
I assume you didn’t see the calamitous defending for both goals?
Didn’t realise it was the fans who let a tame free kick slip in, also didn’t realise it was the fan’s fault for Defoe being allowed to shift the ball into his ageing, but still deadly, right foot and blasting it in.
All this time I was blaming Mignolet and Sakho, feel rather stupid now. Thanks for clearing that up Stackie.
Haven’t read any reports of people who stayed getting bullied ??
What are your better ways to protest ?
LFC has spent how much the past few years? And yet this is what we get? The club is bringing in plenty of money already. They spend it like drunken sailors most of the time.
Agree
Atmosphere had an effect , yes shouldnt effect hardened proffesionals but we are a team in need of every bit of support it can muster
Shame Kop decided time to sing was the time to fuck off too
That was the idea, show them what they’re missing by taking us for granted.
Was obviously lost on you.
Absolutely no evidence of people being bullied anywhere near where I was. I stayed. I would have gone if I hadn’t been taking my 10 year old son to his first ever trip to Anfield, as I tweeted TAW about on Friday. Must admit I was worried about the atmosphere turning Sour and that being my lads first experience of Anfield but absolutely not. That 10 minutes prior to the 77 was the most emotional I’ve seen Anfield in a long time and that YNWA brought a lump to my throat. I just got up and clapped everyone going. 100% behind it. Well done all those who went and well done for respecting the reasons of those who didn’t.
Come on Stackie, we’ve got to make a stand at some point. When do you think FSG will stop raising the prices? They are doing it now, they did it 3 years ago and they’ll do it in 3 years time unless someone does something more than nothing? It’ll never be over if no one does sweet fuck all ever.
Today/yesterday/whenever might well be the proudest I’ve ever been as a Liverpool supporter because so many found their bollocks and definitely did that something more than nothing and for me it was certainly better than getting to a fucking league cup final tbh. Get with the program.
Was going to stay out of this but this post sums up exactly how I feel. I wasn’t and know others who haven’t spoken up because our fans have a tendency to bear pit fans with opposing views.
I can’t get my head around that five year contract. It’s driving me mad. That throw straight to their player. that fucking throw !!
In relation to the protest. anyone being bullied and harassed is a disgrace but was totally behind the walkout. I am greatful that FSG came in at the time they did but it doesn’t mean that we tug our forelock at every decision they make.
“debate needs balance that takes into account FSG’s role in helping us out of the dark days of Gilette and Hicks”
Youve got this the wrong way round mate it was the likes of SOS’s protesting that forced Hicks and Gillette out and allowed FSG to get the club on the cheap. Maybe they should take that into account when trying to squeeze every last penny out of us.
Spot on Liam and even then there were Reds who wouldn’t row in behind various protests to get rid of H & G!!
Some people are into getting fleeced.
Bottlers. Complete bottlers. The equaliser was inevitable after the first goal. No surprise who was at the scene of the crime either: the two biggest bellends in the team. I’d rest happily were Alberto Moreno (0) and Simon Mignolet (-5) never to wear the red (or green) shirt again. Thick as fuck the pair of ‘em (as footballers I must stress, I’ve no axe to grind with them as human beings). Emre Can (4) could do with learning how to pass the ball progressively too.
Jurgen’s got his work cut out for him in the summer, though I tend to agree with the Wrap boys: 4 or 5 quality signings and move the attacking midfielders back. Might be worth trying Lallana in the deep-lying midfield role as a carrier. He hasn’t the pace, creativity or goals (despite today) for an advanced position.
You’re quite right John. Bobby F was clearly fuming at the end. What’s the point? (Was clearly what he was thinking).
Fruitless protest . ticket prices just grow with demand and supposedly we have thouands wating for season tickets
Some season tickets reducing , some minor increases, some going up
anyone really concerned with prices should have made a stand years ago . horse long bolted
think it affected team today , already shot on confidence . Altough keeper should now go !
didnt see many protests at £59 a ticket for CL games against Ludogorets and Basel. And that was for your own seat if you were lucky
Another thing is , I sit in centenary and the kop is usally subduded in these games , shame they found their voice to sing before they fucked off
I understand prices are now crazy and if FSG dont spend big in the summer with all this new cash thenn we should all protest , and their previous record suggests they wont .
But give Jurgen a chance !!
The ‘first team’ is a pathetic joke, unable to hold a 2 goal lead against one of the worst teams in the league, and they’ve fuck all in everything else.
They should have been booed off the pitch after another gutless result. We protect these players far too much – these ratings are just silly.
‘Football is being remorselessly repackaged as homogenised, tourist-friendly mush’ so on point had to be quoted twice.
I think this goes for sport in general awash with corporate greed. I sometimes wander, We all invest so much time in pursuit of our fandom, is it dumbing us down, while the powers that be encroach on our freedom, as we remain unaware and consume, consume.
Liverpool fans, leading again, Anfield 77, who knows where this will be in the history books. I alluded to this before, but so much money has been made, big deals closed on the backs of 1906 and SOS acted before it was too late, allowing FSG to get the steal of the century, where’s the gratitude, they should get free tickets.
KLoop has, reportedly, been quite ruthless when clearing out dead wood on previous clubs. If – as many hope – he is allowed to lay waste to this squad at season’s end, no established player could complain that he wasn’t allowed to show what he could do.
But we will be lucky to get 20 cents on the dollar for any of them…
Agree with you Craig. Sunderland never got a sniff of goal until the atmosphere changed. Ill advised walk out in my view. Protest by all means but not during matches. How many times when Hicks &Gillett were in charge did we protest? Loads but not during the match. I walked round with that great picture of Rafa but then went the match and supported the lads. Suggest we all walk out of Wembley on 77 mins when we are there later in Feb.
We should protest at having Mignolet and Moreno in our team in my view. Liabilities the pair of them.
Mignolet, Moreno & Sakho didn’t warrant 7 between them. Would love to see a breakdown of goals conceded that result from this trio’s errors. Mignolet makes a total mess of the free kick, but wouldn’t have to attempt the save if Moreno doesn’t give away a stupid free kick. Sakho then repeats his dance v Mbekani at Norwich but this time v Defoe instead of actually trying to kick the ball.
I’m just so numb now with this club, which is sad. My response to all 4 goals scored today was numbness. No joy, no anger, just a numbness at who we are.
How Moreno gets a 7 is beyond me. 4 at best
Were all fucked even George is fucked he played Banarama before the game
Well done everyone who walked on 77.Those who didn’t got the 13 minutes they deserve
So Emre does nothing and gets 5? 50%?….5 for just turning up?
If we give a 1 to Can, and adjust all other players ratings accordingly, the ratings look about right.
Who ever said football was a business?
Since when has anyone had a “right” to profit out of a sport?
I don’t see the top 4 clubs being run as a business that makes any profit.
What right do FSG have to come to this city, buy our club and run it like a fucking burger franchise?
The 77 and SOS may have just taught them a valuable lesson FSG really needs to learn, and that is who really owns Liverpool, both club and city.
We do.
Mid-table club, mid-table players, mid-table attitude from all – and going backwards. Shef Wed, Villa, we’ve all seen big clubs fail and then go. We could be next. TV money will not last forever. Take a look at Brazil’s game after the over-saturation for the screen, then look at Italy when they were the global game. Fucking shite and broke now, with empty stadiums.
Until people stop buying tickets and fuck off the STs, the owners will not give a shit. Walking out should be the start. Now do it every single home game, bring the clock forward 5 minutes per game, and then don’t come back in the new season. Anyone buying new tickets now cannot complain about the price and shitfest we’re in.
If Klopp had his own envelopes, it wouldn’t be even close to a surprise whose names would be in them. Mignolet, Sakho, Moreno. Three players risking or costing us points pretty much every match.
