NEIL ATKINSON takes TAW Player to Radio Citytalk.
After Liverpool’s thriller against Arsenal Neil Atkinson and Sean Rogers are joined by Phil Blundell to do a Tuesday Review style show on the radio and get into the issues and questions around Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool finding a way to score three but finding a way to concede three too. The three talk about:
– Why Klopp sets Liverpool up as he does?
– The impact of the inconsistent fitness levels around the eleven.
– How direct Arsenal were and how Liverpool struggled to cope.
– The issues around all three goals.
Every Tuesday Neil and Mold Alexandra manager Sean Rogers are joined by an Anfield Wrap contributor to talk in depth about the tactical aspects of the game. If you’ve been thinking about signing up for TAW Player, why not try it for a month and hear more of this sort of thing about the Manchester United and Norwich games to come?
I agree completely with Sean when he’s talking about not been able to predict which players you’re going to get the full 90 out of and who will burn out.I can empathise with this I had the exact same problem as Klopp on Sunday. I’d set up my team and decided before the game which changes I’d be making around the 65 minute mark. Much to my surprise when I went to make the sub 2nd half, Lucas who I was going to sub was still 3/4 energy in the green while Emre was way down in the red so I made a similar choice to Klopp with my players. Its a tough job but that’s what us managers have to do isn’t it Sean.
Incidentally we won the game 3-0. I’ll upload the goals later if anyone is interested.
I thought Arsene Wenger’s comments after it were a load of bollocks but then he knows his players better than anyone and what would he have to gain by making it up?
The thing is football moves so fast and that 2014 team has spent the past two years rapidly falling apart (see also: 2009). They scraped an undeserved cup win the week after against us, an equally undeserved point at Anfield last season but then gave us a battering of our own in the league at their place.
I’m struggling to buy Wenger’s mental scarring shout. Monreal got given the worst run around of his life with Suarez playing on him but he didn’t looked still scarred to me the other night. He didn’t put a foot wrong against Ibe and looked like he could stand him up all day.
