WITH all of our games there was talk that a replay was the worst possible result. But this is fine. Send them out again at Anfield. See if they can learn things apparently they can’t learn in reserve football. Where many of these players find themselves bottom of the league.
Adam Bogdan: 3
How has this happened? How is he being paid to play for Liverpool? Someone should never work again.
Connor Randall: 4
Shows the value of playing youth with experience. Without that he looked lost for long periods. And it’s a fucking dreadful haircut.
Jose Enrique: 3
No idea where he was playing to be honest. At least looked fit. Can’t play football though, and distorts everything else.
Tiago Ilori: 4
I don’t care how fast he is over 20 metres. I don’t care how lovely he looks on the ball. He can’t defend crosses, he can’t head the ball and his body is made of crisps.
Brad Smith: 5
Another example of younger players looking better with good players. Nice finish though. Don’t think changes of position helped him. Or Enrique.
Kevin Stewart: 5
Looked fairly solid. But he’s 22. What’s the point.
Cameron Brannagan: 5
Some nice passing when he had time. But he still looks very nervous. He’s much better at Under-21 level, where he imposes himself much more.
Joao Teixiera: 6
Looked confident. Like he knew he was better. Drifts in and out, but more promise than most.
Ryan Kent: 6
Enjoyed his positivity. Not sure why he was taken off. Maybe an end product thing. Or fitness.
Jerome Sinclair: 5
Nice finish but very little else. Which is why they don’t seem too interested in keeping him on.
Christian Benteke: 5
Part of me thinks a £30million striker should show everyone up at this level. But then he’s not that sort of player. He forces a great save from the keeper from his one chance, and he’s involved in our best moves, including the equaliser. But it all feels a bit and what? You need more.
SUBS
Pedro Chirivella: 4
Looked nervy. Kicked one into touch under no pressure. Reserve football is no practice.
Sheyi Ojo: 7
There was a boy who has played in front of a crowd. Confidence and threat.
Joe Maguire: N/A
Dunno.

The pitch should get -100/10
I usually enjoy reading the ratings but I think these are pretty harsh. At least reserve judgement until they’ve played on an actual football pitch and not a patch of farm land. And Ilori wasn’t that bad either.
Yeah, agree here. What did we expect? Patchwork team thrown together at the last minute on a shit pitch against a style of football they never face. Thought Ilori looks like a player, just ran out of steam, which is hardly surprising given his lack of match time. That pitch would have been energy sapping.
Agreed that Ojo looked our biggest threat.
ILori is fucking gash.
Even a sinking ship like Villa wouldn’t touch him.
Gibbo is spot on with his rating. What the fuck did Ilori do all evening apart from roll his socks down at the end cos he was knackered after facing the mighty Exeter.
The ignorance from some on here on is amazing.
First game for 7 months and you come to that? Ilori is fucking gash based on probably the first 60 mins you’ve ever seen from him?
Pierre, was that your view on Mascherano when he couldn’t get in a shit West Ham team – didn’t do too bad here though did he? As MK said, we’ve hardly seen him because of loans/injury etc. Just because another manager (Garde) doesn’t rate him, doesn’t mean he’s ‘gash’ as you put it. He might well be, but until we see a bit more of him have a bit more patience.
As you say the ignorance of some on here is amazing!

Your last line couldn’t be more fitting!
Sorry for the double post TAW message to first post said it hadn’t worked
No. Illori didn’t play due to the ludicrous contract Villa signed with the two useless old bums they picked up off the scrap heap. (‘hey these guys played for Abbu Dhabi FC they must be good, let’s give them contracts that guarantees a start every game!!) .
Everything wrong with Liverpool fans is summed up in that comment from Tit head or what ever his name is. Slaughter a lad who makes his debut on that piece of bogland after no football for 7 months. Cunt.
Another no nothing apologist crawls out his cave….
Who gave you the fabulous inside knowledge of those Villa contracts btw?
Hi Gibbo – you are usually so positive, these ratings
are all 1-2 too low except En-streak-e/Bogjob perhaps.
Due to a lack of experience, time to train, age, pitch,
motivated opposition, I think a draw – having twice
gone behind-aint the end of the world.
If the same team does the same at home, then it
would be reasonable to sharpen some knives.
At the end of day, ratings are just numbers, but they
stoke the coals for reasons I don’t always get….
Keep it up, cheers
Bogdan never work again? Bit harsh, Billy Smarts looking for a clown.
Did you watch the game John?
Yes
Well I’d suggest watching it back when sober. Illori hasn’t played a game all season and actually looked quite composed and classy for the first half – obviously tired and cramped up after an hour; thanks villa. Enrique actually played ok save the first goal; he hadn’t played for a year – again, what were you expecting? Brannaghan was excellent – he was very composed on the ball and always look forward. On a dog of a pitch against a very hungry experienced team, he did fine. I understand that the pink is an emotional show as it’s just after the game, but to say ridiculous things like ‘Enrique was playing left back first half, centre back second half’ (centre half all game – smith was left back) and that this game will in any way define these kids’ careers is crazy talk. You should be proud of the lads and supportive of Klopp to give them a chance in such a game.
Fair ratings, pitch didn’t help things. Maybe a bit harsh on Brad Smith – glad someone else thinks the same as me on Ilori though. There’s a reason he couldn’t get a kick for the worst side in the league.
Llori hasn’t played for months, which showed near the end, but if anybody is gash it is you. He was very good until he tired – though he needs about six months in the gym.
These ratings are, in any case, pathetic, by and large. True to form for this Gibson character really. He must be gutted that Moreno didn’t play, thus robbing him of the opportunity to give him a 4.
Hiya mate. It’s Gibbons. Maybe an eye test would help you read names and watch football. All the best
If I thought your work was worth getting the name right … well, I would have done so, wouldn’t I?
I watched it but really would have no idea how to rate anyone so good effort here john. I’ll give john a 7 for rating. Well done john.
Gibbo you’ve lost the plot I’m afraid. Although Bogdan is understandably nervy during our current GK inquisition, he didnt really do anything wrong for the goal, it was a nudge from their man on the line that put him off balance and it was a foul. The corner itself was a delicious delivery which maybe he could have tipped over the bar, so to do a total demolition job on the lad is grossly unfair.
For a GK to be given a fair opportunity he should receive a series of continuous games to perform and not a drink from the well every blue moon. Talk about a lose lose situation! And that’s without taking into consideration the current weight of our Keeper’s shirt.
As for giving Smith a 5 Ffs! What game where you watching mate! He put in a MOM performance and score. An 8 minimum, surely?
In context you rated Ryan Kent highly and yet the lad wasted possession several times in the 1st half and had his own selfish agenda trying to make a name for himself with no end product. Should have brought more men into the game. Llori had to deal with a shite pitch and a shit partner in Enrique, yet didn’t do a lot wrong in my eyes, and he used the ball well
Take a chill pill John. It must be the thought of going back to school eh mate.
It wasn’t a foul mate. A keeper has to be stronger than that. Face it, he’s played twice and made 2 howlers which have cost us. People said he had the ball kicked out of his hand at Watford. It doesn’t matter. He should have caught it. He should never be in goal for Lfc again. I see your point though. If this was a kids match I’d share your views. Playing for Liverpool is as elite as it gets though. Why’s he in goal? There’s a case of negligence somewhere. It’s laughable.
Really? He’s played twice? He should never play a game for Liverpool again? That’s a bit too much. You conveniently forget his first games for the club in the Capital One Cup where, against Carlisle, he was the match hero. Give the guy a break.
Jesus Christ! I despair.
Let’s get this straight? Are you saying Bogdan is good enough for Liverpool? Or, are you saying we should give him a chance and see if he turns out ok despite the fact he can’t even do the very basics like catch. In fact, don’t answer mate. I’ve no desire to converse with anyone who is against criticism of Bogdan. People like you would happily have us in the Championship. It makes me sick. What happened to us being a proud club? Content with Bogdan in goal. We’re a fuckin joke. Well done!
8 for Smith maybe generous as for the corner. If that was a faul then Skrtl would never play another game for Liverpool – he would never get more than 10 minutes before being send of. Other than that I thought Benteke was shocking – 32.5 million – for 200 lbs of raw muscle falling over left and right trying to dive for a penalty which coincidently let to our first goal. FIFA Henrique looks rusty and without match fitness and speed he is not much of a footballer. In my mind the kids did well. Have Illori train in the local boxing gym of the next month. I actually think he will end up a very very good player – if given a chance. Texiera will easily fit in against Arsenal and Man U player as number 10. Ojo he will be a great sub for the rest of the season. I say yes we are strained but let’s see how the kids do at Anfield – YNWA
Takes very little to satisfy you, mate.
Houllier axed Westerveld after letting in one howler against Bolton. Never played for us again. Bogdan’s done it twice in successive games. Should never play again.
Gibbo was spot on.
Might of had something to do with his weak bladder.
Was in and out of the bogs in Jalons on Smithdown road shortly before he left.
Just saying.
As your friends with Adam, you can tell him from me bas megt kurva anyat, actually that’s a bit harsh, could call him a pussy, but that means kiss in Hungarian, and I don’t feel like showing him any love, though he clearly needs bags of it.
From now on its Neil, Robbo that Gibson character..
Being of a conspiritorial nature, my theory. Here is the only football match on national tv with no competition. So, the likes of Bogdan, Enrique and Benteke choose to phone it in. Why? So as not to attract attention and entice desperate lower clubs such as Villa, Sunderland etc to think about putting in bids for them. Why threaten a cushy lifestyle? Life at LFC is sooo good at the moment. Why strangle the goose? As for the kids. They are drawn away at an early age and are nurtured, fed correctly and comfortably nursed when broken. They play on well groomed pitches and their salaries, depending how good an agent they have is enough to afford them a lifestyle that allows them to avoid interaction with the great unwashed. The demise of the central league, the lack of “b” team tournaments and daft money is detrimental to a clubs ability to groom real quality. We all know what Klopp meant by Robust. If LFC is to get any return from the academy the kids need competition.
Bogdan and Benteke suffering from major lack of confidence but may have some sort of future at the club.
Randall, Enrique, Maguire, Stewart, Sinclair will never make it at the club.
Illori would be a lovely player if all forms of physical contact were outlawed. Should be fined for how easily he was physically dominated by lads who weren’t even trying to physically dominate him. Looked genuinely shocked that it’s a contact sport.
Teixeira and Smith have potential to be good first team squad members.
Brannigan, Kent, Ojo, and Pedro are all worth another look but I’d be surprised if they made it.
Not a bad result and team performance considering lads who usually kick their heels while their teams games are going on were rounded up 10 minutes before the game and asked to tog out.
thanks for saving me fr typing out similar lines.
would put Teixeira/Smith/Branningan /Kent/Ojo group in the same category. ~ hope they all develop into useful first team squad players (and hope one will turn out to be regular at least).
Bogdan/Benteke…enough said and no more excuse..
Agree on all of the ‘will never make its’, apart from Randall. I can’t see anything in Clyne that makes him that much different from the young lad.
Besides, he reminds me of Barry Venison without the mullet, but with a hardware upgrade.
Always liked Venison, plucky little trier that he was.
John’s nailed this goalie situation. Whoever said in the summer ‘so Brad Jones’ contract has expired, I tell you what, let’s get a deputy keeper from the championship who will be specifically worse than Mignolet’ should never work in football ever again. Non-negotiable. Just like, good bye transfer committee gobshite man.
when Mignolet was having a tough patch (which seem to be forever :) I was rooting for Bogdan to be given a run of matches.
he got his chance at Watford but he “BOGDAN’ed” it. Last night he was given another chance and yet again he BOGDAN’ed it again (note: a new verb coming up in Exeter English Dictionery, not Oxford or Cambridge :)
I hope I don’t ever see him in Liverpool shirt again. I believe Klopp would never give him.another chance either.
If Klopp is really sticking with Mig, our young keeper Ward from Aberdeen would at least give a real challenge as next in.line.
I have to agree. This clown was a back-up keeper for Bolton. So why the fuck did Rodgers sign him? He may be cheaper than Jones, but, fuck me, is he shit.
Very harsh on some and tbh Ilori should get an auto 8 just for having Enrique as his CB partner, probably put years on him.
I suspect these ratings are purely to get a riSe out of people
Ps reading some of the comments about our players im not sure I’ve even watched the same game as some of you.
Unbelievable how hard you are on a lot of these players Enrique and Bogdan aside, hugely undeserved. No wonder our home support are awful If we are binning a whole team of youngsters after a game away to Exeter on a shut heap of a pitch. I think some of you just love to be angry that every player is not a 10/10 every game and all the time!!
You are fucking clueless.
The ratings are spot on.
If you can’t hold LFC players up to high standards, then go and support another team.
I’ll take that as a compliment from a kumquat like you
Kumquat, – Kumquats (or cumquats in Australian English) (UK /ˈkʌmkwɒt/;[2] US /ˈkʌmˌkwɑːt/ or /ˈkʌmkwɔːt/[3]) are a group of small fruit-bearing trees in the flowering plant family Rutaceae, either forming the genus Fortunella, or placed within Citrus sensu lato.
The edible fruit closely resembles that of the orange (Citrus sinensis), but it is much smaller, being approximately the size and shape of a large olive. Kumquat is a fairly cold hardy citrus.
I like it :)
it was rhyming sland you Kumquat.
@Steve R (below) Erm.. yes i had gathered that.
I fully approve of definitions. Bravo Sean
I’m in two minds about these ratings. When I first read them, they reflected what I thought of the players versus what I would expect of a first team picked by Liverpool (irrespective of context).
Giving it more thought, however, and I think they’re a little harsh (except on Bogdan) given the context (youngsters, returning loaners, state of pitch, etc.). Actually, with John’s insights into the youngsters in recent articles, I was hoping for a more positive spin on some of these youngsters. Maybe there isn’t any?
John: FOUR POINT FIVE. Being a big supporter with insights on our U21s, it was a bit harsh on the kids. Maybe using the same ruler/scale used on first teamers since this is a senior match? or just didn’t get a good Christmas present? :)
It is fairly obvious that you have rated these players as though they were seasoned first team players. Either that or you haven’t been getting much lately and decided to take it out on the kids.
A team comprised of callow youth – with only one first choice (?) senior player amongst them – who probably haven’t had a more than one quick training session together, come from behind twice on a cow patch that cows would refuse to play on, against seasoned, hard-bitten pros and this curmudgeonly tripe is the best you can offer?
Thank fuck you are just a two-bit hack and don’t have any say in the future of these young players.
Don’t know how you mark a game like that to be honest, but I think, Bogdan aside, you’ve been a little harsh. Ilori cut out a fair few crosses and won some of his headers: can’t be easy playing in front of Bogdan and alongside Enrique. What’s happened to Chiravella?
Yeah was fairly impressed with Ilori seeing as he only came back to Liverpool mid week. Looks like there may be something to build on at least.
A better team than that lost at home to Northampton!!!
Tells a story of where we are as a football club when we can’t put out an organised second eleven.
From back to front
Bogdan 3 For obvious reasons
Randall 5 Passing was poor let his man go for 1st goal.
Smith 6 loose pass that led to their 1st goal otherwise ok (did,nt bottle it after injury)
Enrique 4 Seems to have lost that determination to succeed, tried to help and encourage the youngsters.
Ilori 5 Started well then after an hour things fell apart.Irrespective of his lack of playing time I was shocked at his fitness levels and physique.Compare him to Kolo who played whole match against better opposition on Tuesday.
Stewart 7 Don,t rate him because of his age.On the night he was our best midfielder over the 90.Box to box performance, showed some nice touches.
Kent 5 Got into good positions but he refused several opportunities to play better positioned players in.His shooting was awful.
Brannagan 5 Workmanlike at best.
Teixirea 6 Good start ,lovely play in the midfield.Became anonymous 2nd half.Perhaps the lack of fitness and skills of players around him prevented him from playing his game.
Sinclair 5 Well taken goal, nothing special otherwise, another lad who looked unfit.
Benteke 7 Good attitude, some nice st up play.Psychologically this could be the end of him Klopp has Brendaned him.
Ojo 7 Why didn,t he start?Possibly in the squad for upcoming prem league games.
Chirivella 4 Played like a scared rabbit.Major improvement required.
RE: RED CARD TO JOHN
Dear TAW:
Due to overwhalming views on “underwhalming” performance of Mr Gibson (les Paul ~ not Fender Stratocaster :), it is my suggestion to ban him one match from rating (Arsenal match).
Instead Mr Mike Owen above should take over for one match for these reasons:
1. Name’s sake
2. For even mentioning “from back to front” before his rating
3. For giving Big Ben 7 for last night game
on one condition that he rates “from front to back” for Arsenal match.
cheers :)
Can this idiot be banned? Normally I advocate free speech but time after time after time he’s not funny at all whilst he clearly thinks he is.
I for one was quite happy by the way that hastily assembled team of mostly youngsters got a result from being behind twice. It was a Sunday league pitch against a team who play together all the time playing their biggest game of the season. its just naive to think we should’ve just went out and smashed them. Also lower league teams seem to be able to throw in any type of tackles they like against the “big boys” cos it’s the magic of the fa cup or something. Just a point on Gibbo’s comment on Kevin Stewart being 22, Ryan mason is 24 and Harry Kane 22 and only really came on the scene last year. Players develop at different ages. I think we’re all just too keen to judge players too quickly which is shown by some fans writing off players after one game of football when they’re not fit on a bog of a pitch.
10’s all around.
Not one to moan about ratings as I know Gibbo gets frustrated people having a go at such a meaningless thing.
However, I feel he’s fell into the trap a lot have of thinking “Well we’re Liverpool laa, these are shite” and expecting some comfortable victory, forgetting bar some shocking performances from a few seasoned pro’s, we’re playing with kids and outcasts who have been thrown together last minute, playing on a fkin cabbage patch, against your standard physical lower league opposition. People love excusing other footballers we sign “give him a year” etc. but are getting stuck into some of try youngsters? Bizarre. The
You’ve slaughtered most of them here John, very unfair.
Get a grip of yourself. Exeter are shite, they are no better than the semi-pro players a division lower. If our U21s cannot cope with slower, less fit and less skilled players at the bottom of the “professional” games, then it’s clear these U21 players are no bloody good themselves. Which is why so few ever make it at the club, or even other sides in the division.
This.
A voice of reason amongst the blind.
Exeter, ffs!
These ratings illustrate the problem with short-termist views among supporters.
I thought a replay was a fine result given how little time they had together. They had some good spells in the match and showed composure to come back twice
The only players I was disappointed with are the senior players. I thought you were especially harsh on Ilori. He’s a young player and when I watched him at the u-21 championship he was really good. He hasn’t played in over 7 months and was recalled on Tuesday or Wednesday to play on Friday. Give the guy and kids a break. Regarding the physical side that can be worked on but in terms of technique he has all the tools. We need to realise that developing players is the only way for Liverpool as we can’t compete against the richest teams. Over the past 6 years 5 teams have outperformed us and getting back amongst the top will require patience and belief in developing players
I can’t think of a worse player wearing the gloves than Bogdan since I’ve watched us going back to the 1970s. He wouldn’t even make the first 11 in a conference side these days.
Shame the replay will have thousands of empty seats.
Think you were in a bad mood when you did this, John. Get yourself a foot rub or a spicy pot noodle or something.
I was unimpressed with John’s ratings. Bogdan let in a ridiculous goal, yes the letter of the law it was a push but one which a man of his physique should have coped with. Apart from that he was OK. For the rest of the lads they all tried hard and earned a replay. To judge these players on this game is ridiculous. Enrique did OK for me. A left back asked to play out of position alongside a young centre half who also hasn’t played for ages and only turned up the day before isn’t ideal.
For me it was an entertaining game and I was proud of the player
Very harsh on some players, particularly Smith, and writing Ilori off so soon is a bit daft.Teixera has faded like that in every one of the few games I’ve seen him play, another Suso,Pacheco type player who won’t make it here.I really hope Klopp changes the academy policy of bringing in these young players from abroad,as it’s hardly been a success has it?Mind you we’ve signed a 16 years old Polish keeper this week haven’t we!
Lets put that team out against Arsenal for the LULZ
The 3 senior players were all crap.
Bogdan.
To those suggesting it was a foul…… Total crap.
2 games…. 2 amazing howlers….
That should be enough to end his LFC career.
I must confess I thought he would push Mingolet this season… I’VE GIVEN MY HEAD A WOBBLE NOW…
Benteke an embarrassment…. He was the captain last night.
Look at his game in that context and then give him a rating.
Someone gave him a 7…. FFS.
Enrique is just comedy gold….. Although at 65 grand a week its not funny.
In injury time decides to “have a little dribble”…..
Just a very thick footballer.
As for everyone else….. I would give them all 8’s.
They are the reason we have a replay at Anfield.
They were given absolutely no leadership by the seniors and still bagged a replay.
Well done young reds.
They were thrust into it last minute.
Llori for example forced his way out of Villa specifically to play in that game for us… He’d been injured for weeks and yet stepped in when we needed him and did not let anyone down.
That will not have gone unnoticed by Klopp, he put his body on the line for Liverpool (you watching Daniel???) and then gets slated for it.
Nice.
All in all I thought it was very positive for these young lads to get that game and get a result from it as well.
We are still in 4 comps in January…
Why all the negativity???
Don’t get it.
Don’t get it at all.
Ilori ”forced his way out of Villa specifically to play in that game” !!
Are you his agent?
Is this the same Ilori that did not get 1 minute of playing time at the worst club in the PL who are shipping goals for fun?
What exactly did you see in the lad last night ? ‘ Wow, there’s a 22 year old bargain at 7 million quid [ yes, 7 fucking million] that has slipped under our radar for the 3 years he’s been on our books’?
The taxi was waiting outside Villa Park and the lad was pushed into it with a ‘thanks, but no thanks’ by Aston fucking Villa,
Football at this level means being put under a harsh spotlight. Klopp will have seen plenty last night to make his decisions.
And for the poster to come on here and try and compare Ilori with Mascherano.
Jesus wept.
No-one did that you gimp. They were pointing out that the “he couldn’t even get into X team” rationale can have great big gaping holes in it, viz Mascherano at West Ham. That is only ‘comparing Ilori with Mascherano’ if you don’t understand how logic works.
Most of your batshit crazy stuff was posted in the wee small hours, so I’m guessing you were a bit tired and emotional and that explains the abusive nonsense you typed, but this particular comment was posted in the early afternoon. Do you have a drink problem? Or do you know fuck all about football 24hrs a day?
Easily wound up too, Brownie boy? :)
Since you seem to have profound talent in deducing what time people post, methinks you have a little too much time on your hands, Sherlock.
Your use of the epithet , ‘gimp’, also implies an erudition worthy of someone in their late teens? ‘Batshit crazy’ suggests you are geographically located in the N.American continent having digested too many episodes of ‘Friends’?
Either way, you haven’t posted anything worth the toilet paper it should be written on since you’ve been here :)
Stick to the Pittsburgh Steelers, pal.
“Since you seem to have profound talent in deducting what time people post”
Does someone want to tell him, or shall I?
BTW, you obviously you didn’t hear what Klopp said when he was specifically asked what he learned about the young players on display Friday night. His unequivocal response was that he wouldn’t be drawing any conclusions about anyone playing in that game, on that pitch in those circumstances.
If there’s anything else you’d like to be wrong about, just give me a shout.
Zzzzzzz… Yawn.
Your wit is too razor sharp, laddie. And I bow to your superior intellect.
Keep rising to the bait, Brownie Boy.
I’m surprised by a lot of these comments whether for or against last nights match (figure of speech, nothing in these comments surprises me anymore).
It’s brilliant for any club if a young lad comes through the academy but it’s getting rarer. I’m happy if one breaks through every 3 years. Last night we saw about 10. Face it, they’re not good enough for Liverpool’s first team and never will be. Surely, we must know that. But, they came in and did a job. None of us wanted to go out the FA Cup last night and none of us want even more injuries for the upcoming matches. It’s unbelievable to suggest the pitch or the fact the team have never trained or played together didn’t play a part in the performance. What planet are some of you on?
The players came in and half did the job. We’ll go through without risking the first team. We’re fighting on 4 fronts. This wasn’t about giving them a chance, it was about doing the most sensible thing we could to stay in the cup. People go on about ‘these players should be doing this and should be doing that’ or ‘does it help their development’. This will be the only time most of these lads ever play for Liverpool. They’re just about good enough for league 2 matches. They’ll never be good enough for Liverpool. We know that. They came in and helped out the first team. That’s it. They should be cut some slack.
Robin, this is exact point Klopp was making at post match. “we needed the help of youngsters, they came in and helped”.
I would be really pleased to see majority of these same kids given game time for the replay
Alas i only got to see the 1st half, but i was pretty pleased with what i saw. Granted the young lads made a few mistakes, and poor decisions, but when they moved the ball around (or tried to, on that pitch), i thought they showed promise, and they also showed a great deal more effort than the 1st team did in the West Ham game recently. They’ve a week or two to get to know each other now, so that’s got to help.
I was surprised we let Ojo go out on loan at the beginning of the season, one of his finishes pre-season (disallowed?) impressed me, so glad to hear he did well when he came on.
I hope the majority get to play again at Anfield, bar Enrique and Bogdan and give them another chance. Hopefully it’s only $10 or less to get in, we might even get a decent crowd. Although, naturally i’ll be working so wont be able to go :(
I still like you, Gibbo.
Some of the ratings are a bit harsh, considering the boggy pitch and it being the first game for a lot of the youngsters. Here my ratings:
Bogdan 2
Randall 5
Ilori 6
Enrique 3
Smith 7
Stewart 6
Brannagan 6
Kent 6
Texiera 7
Sinclair 6 – would be 5 if not for the goal
Benteke 3
Ojo 7
Chiravella 5
Maguire N/A
Smith, Texiera and Ojo need to be subs in match day squads. Benteke & Enrique were awful. Bogdan let the team down or it would be a win, he’s not good enough to be mignolet backup!
I also thought the ratings were harsh as I quite enjoyed this, although maybe I wouldn’t be feeling the same if we had lost. Agree with John and Klopp that getting guys like this back to the club and giving them proper game time is the best way to decide whether they should be on the payroll. Kick off time was novel – I was able to watch it live at 9.00 a.m. on Saturday morning lying in bed with a cup if tea.
#Pray4Gibbo
haha.
#pray4bogdan2
Can anyone confirm if the rumours that our players were bugging Exeter’s for autographs after the final whistle are true?
wow.. first time I read below the ratings to discover all the comments.. did a quick check through some previous games.. loads of comments
people rating the ratings in some sort of doc brown ratings loop..
who knew!!
Got to disagree with some of these.
Smith was very good. And while Teixiera has the nice flicks and turns there is zero end product as usual.
Kent i admit was lively esp in the first half but similar to Teixiera has no end product. But he was determined and has the intensity required so there is potential.
Just another Liverpool blog. Please support thank you.
https://theredsoliloquy.wordpress.com
See the junior team there trying to twat in a worldie from 30 yards just like the first team…..
Bloody hell!
