Great as always, well done lads. I’d like to hear more about the youth coming through every once in a while, what more peoples opinions are about lads like Morgan, Adorjan and the rest, if this is the place for suggestions.
great show , just a point on the fact about evra been “wound up etc. Everyone needs to seriously look at the footage of the free kick, suarez barely touches him, its at worst a comin together of feet and nothing to do with his knee. It looks to me like a dive. There is no rationale for evra to be doing his nut at the corner kick. The whole thing is a stitch up and this is very evident if you read how the fa have portrayed this “foul” in the report, and then look at the footage.
Probably my favourite one to date, even if the sheer number of contributors probably meant you couldn’t get as much input in each as you’d have liked. Very interesting points raised about the Suarez affair but Neil’s highlighting of the Gerrard crosses in to Carroll in the second half on Friday night being “things of beauty” is spot on. At Newcastle Carroll was praised for his work when predominantly receiving crosses from the right hand side and Joey Barton was the supply line. This season most of our crossers of the ball seem to have been Downing, Enrique and Adam and with that the ball is naturally going to come in from the left. His magnificent header last season against Manchester City aside, will having a quality supply line from what may well be his more favoured side on the right be what kickstarts his Liverpool career? Let’s hope so…
Having shipped out to the ‘states in 1980, I missed KD’s first go at managing the Reds. In the early eighties it took days to get a report on the games and certainly no tv. My question is, how do his tactics now differ from those of his days with Blackburn, LFC, Newcastle? It breaks my heart to see him justify his faith in his purchases when all can see they are not living up to his expectations. I hope this sordid season does not take another toll on the man, he has been through the wringer personally and publicly too many times. The vitriol and sniping from both press, public comment and FA not to mention the manchester machievelli, is going to continue. I hope Henry is aware of the pressure on KD and will provide a good minder for him so he can concentrate and orchestrate whatever plan he has. Oh, and please, don’t give KD or Comolli any more money until summer. Congratulations on a very entertaining, intelligent(most of the time) and insightful blog, this old fart appreciates your camaraderie, wit and love of all that is and will be LFC. Hopefully 2012 will close with a 4th place, Suarez and Gerrard’s enthusiasm will rub off on the financed four, Dirk will find a comfy retirement home, Johnson will turn into one of our best MIDFIELDERS yet and evra continues to bitch throughout the season, convincing all that the man really is a pussy. Carry on the good work. Bod
Another brilliant podcast as always, especially when Steve raised the point that it is hard for 11 white blokes to discuss racism towards a black person. It would’ve been nice to hear Howard Gayle’s or John Barnes’ opinion on this situation.
As a Black LFC supporter that was born and raised in the UK, the whole Suarez v Evra fiasco has been uncomfortable to say the least. They way that the club as a whole has dealt with the situation in terms of the Suarez t-shirts and official statements has been abysmal.
I don’t think Suarez is racist but what he said to Evra was racist. Suarez even admitted to using the word and that is why he was banned by the FA. Football can be used to eradicate racism and all forms of hatred from society and bring people from different cultures together…not pull them apart.
I’d also like your opinions on some of the ressies making the step up to the first team. Kelly, Spearing, Robinson & Flanagan have all made solid appearances for the first team. So should we now look to blood some of the younger attacking players that have pace or game intelligence like Pacheco, Eccleston, Sterling, Morgan, N’goo & Silva into the first team as some of our attackers like Carroll, Henderson & Downing aren’t performing that well in terms of goals and assists?
Anyway keep up the good work, the podcast and website are brilliant.
