Hope he beasts it obviously but I’m still not having Benteke lads. I don’t want to overstate this so bear with me, but if he shows deep for Lovren, Skrtel or some other knob to just knock it up to him Crouch-style I will freak the fuck out and possibly fuck footy off forever. Phil Coutinho would do well to join me rather than watching balls fly over his fucking head all the while.
Also, your red keks purchase distresses me greatly, Neil. All very Muse. Are you well?
Got excited for the upcoming season listening to this lads. We really do now have some attacking talent at the club at the min and if they click teams may watch out. Most of them can play a variety of positions too.
We need to be steamrolling the bottom 10 or so teams. Can’t believe that stat that we only scored 24 goals against the bottom half of the league. Really need to nail those teams so the confidence is there when we gone up against the tougher teams.
I hope we take the EL at least semi serious this year as its a great opportunity for the likes of Ilori, Gomez, Markovic, Can, Ibe etc to start games. The players and the manager need to get used to playing midweek in Europe and then in the league that weekend.
Something I’ve thought and seemed to be backed up by Rodgers this week is that we’ll probably have a league team and a cups team, to an extent.
I was just thinking then, Sturridge could be back 6 weeks into the season and although I couldn’t possibly know how to fit everyone in I think we could have 2 strong 11’s.
I’d go for league, Sturridge, Firmino, Coutinho, Henderson, Milner, Allen, Clyne, Skrtel, Sakho and probably Moreno.
For the cups we could assemble a team out of Benteke, Markovic, Ibe, Lallana, Can, Lucas, Toure, Lovren, Wisdom and Gomez and still have Origi, Ings, Ilori and Teixeira on the bench.
Obviously, it’d be a revolving door due to injuries or form but I think that cup team is strong. So, I think we’ll be taking all cups seriously for no other reason than for those players you mention that’s gonna have to be their opportunity. I’d guess they’d wanna impress. So, it’ll be a good strong team with players giving their all (I hope). I think it’s gonna be an exciting season. Can’t fuckin wait to be honest.
Can’t see Sturridge being back up to speed until at least near the end of the year considering the length of time he’s been. However these cup matches may provide a great opportunity for him to start matches and get himself back to match sharpness. I think Benteke is gonna be the main man for the first half of the season at least.
Yeah, you’re probably right. I wonder if there’ll be a bit more urgency from him when he gets back. He looked worried last season, like he was scared of getting injured and so holding back. If I’m confident his injury issues are over, from what I’ve read, lol, then surely he’ll be confident they’re over and may put more into it. If he’s on schedule I can see him getting back to his best early November but that’s based more on hope than knowledge.
Reminds me of something that happened to me. I’m sure it was the night of the Goodison derby this year. I’m a terrible dresser. I get my missus to buy all my clothes now, shorts, t-shirts etc. She’s got more taste. I buy jeans and normally have 1 black jumper. Everything makes me look like I grew up in the 80’s and everything is cheap. So, that night I was in town and came out of the bar to go home and a lad approached me and asked if I’d sell my polo shirt for £20 because he couldn’t get in with a normal t-shirt and had come from Wales. Couldn’t believe my luck. £20 for a Fruit of the Loom. The t-shirt he gave me in return was designer too. Why mention this? Well, as stated, I’m in no position to take the piss out of anyone’s clothes. I feel comfortable taking the piss out of people for most things but wouldn’t dream of doing it for clothes. It’s just leaving myself open. That said, I would never, never, never wear (or buy) red trousers. I find that seriously disturbing. Jesus Christ! The thought of it is making me uncomfortable.
