NEIL ATKINSON is joined by Raheem Sterling’s agent…
Felt oddly possible for a second didn’t it?
Honestly he isn’t. He’s joined by Rob Gutmann and Mike Girling instead and they talk about the Sterling situation aka the Soundtrack To Your Summer.
Plus a Schoolyard. Plus Stoke.
Everything you need. TAW atop the tower…
Keep Sterling and keep the hard stance, we’ll be judged on how we look after Raheem. We have to show more care about our young player then he’s pathetic agent “Hospital Ward” On Rodgers I think he’s a dead man walking. This season’s results have made players like Sterling look elsewhere and looks a defeated man.
Here’s my starting XI vs Stoke City, since you all went “there”:
Mignolet
Johnson Skrtel Lovren Moreno
Lucas
Can Henderson
Coutinho
Markovic Sinclair
Bench: Ward, Toure, Gerrard, Sterling, Balotelli, Lambert, Borini

It was mentioned that Depay was eager to sign for us but we dragged our heels with the deal. Not saying anyone’s wrong but never heard anything like this, anyone have any further info on this or was it insider info??
If true, again not saying it’s not, it’s a fucking joke!!!
I reckon we’re guilty of over-analyzing some of this. Understandable given we’re fans and that. I’m not sure that too many of these problems/issues we’re highlighting are unique to our club. Spurs certainly don’t sign everyone they want and even the PSGs and Chelseas of this world have to get in line behind the Barcas and Munichs. Similarly, very few clubs don’t have to worry about their best players having their heads turned by the elite of the elite. United couldn’t keep Ronaldo and Spurs couldn’t keep Bale.
On Depay, I’ve read a ton here about how LFC were supposedly outflanked by United at the last, but I remember reading about ManU’s interest in the player not long after it became public knowledge that we were after him. It didn’t come out of leftfield like some are saying. And again in terms of the time it takes us to do deals, isn’t this just a symptom of our current standing in world football? If you’re Depay and looking to come to the EPL, you may still be attracted by the opportunity to play for a club of our stature, but his agent is likely to make it known to other potential suitors that LFC are putting their money where their mouth is. If you’re Depay, you probably want to hear what MUFC, Chelsea and City have to say while you mull over the offer from Liverpool. But I doubt the reverse is true. A top, young, foreign footballer who is at the point of discussing terms with one of the EPL’s top three perennials is not going to sit tight just in case LFC or Spurs decide to pick up the phone. I think it’s just unrealistic to expect us to be closing deals for top tier players without the top tier teams trying to muddy the waters. In some senses, we ought to be worried the day we are closing all our deals in a timely fashion, as that probably indicates that we’re only buying players that don’t interest the very best clubs.
