While the £4 billion sale is being negotiated, consider this…
“Liverpool has one LSOA, (Lower-layer Super Output Area) located in Anfield electoral ward, in the top 10 most deprived LSOAs, and seven that are in the top 100 most deprived out of 32,844 in England. Of these, three are located in Anfield, two in Everton, one in County, and one in Tuebrook and Stoneycroft.”
YNWA?
FSG bought the club for £300 million in 2020, now rumoured to be selling for £4.3 billion.
The club has been a major contributor to Anfield’s decline over the past 40 years. FSG will leave with their pockets stuffed full of cash while we continue to live in squalor.
Anfield residents have to plan their days around match day traffic every other weekend with random kick-off times from 12-8pm, and through the week with Champion’s League matches, tolerating fighting over parking spaces and trying to prevent their gardens being used as toilets. The club gives nothing in return.
LFC have largely been responsible for the ghettofication of Anfield, starting with the disgraceful bullying of the Mason sisters to force them from Kemlyn Road, and their hoovering up of every available property through the 80s, leaving them to fall into disrepair, further lowering the value of property in the area and causing the decline of a once affluent district.
FSG were supposed to develop Anfield as part of the expansion plan when the ground move was cancelled. Anyone walked along Oakfield Road lately? Funny how building the new Anny Road stand is a higher priority than improving the quality of life for local residents innit?
0.1% of what they make from the sale would be £43 million. Imagine the difference that would make to Anfield.
