I found it really funny at half time that people who claim to be hardcore football fans still don’t understand the offside rule. I saw pictures with Robertson circled asking “how is this offside?”; I saw others saying that if the keeper is out then the last defender ‘becomes’ the keeper, and other nonsense.
It’s very simple – there must be at least TWO opposing players between the attacker and the goal when the ball is played. If there’s fewer than two players when the ball is played then they’re offside. Neither Konate or Fabinho play the ball, they both block the played ball from Valverde as such do not intentionally play the ball in any direction therefore the last intentional play was by Valverde resulting in offside.
