Here’s what the manager had to say…
On Firmino: “Losing Bobby is a blow. We’ve known now for two days it’s a serious injury. We talk about weeks, still. I don’t know exactly, but more than four. Then we have to see, he’s a quick healer.”
On Tsimikas: “Tsimikas is very close and that’s why they are on the bench and not just in the squad, for example. He can push Andy Robertson. But Robertson in my eyes is the best LB in the world but it’s good we have the options to give Robbo a rest in moments. Kostas needed time to adapt but he has done that now and we have to let him run free sometimes.”
On Henderson: “My last issue when I came here was who would be my captain. I had one. Everyone was convinced Hendo was the right one for me. I only learned about him day by day. After 6 years, he’s a perfect choice. He’s a perfect role model as a footballer. A real leader. Milly is a massive voice in this team, Virgil grew with that too. Trent, Robbo too. Ali is very calm. Mo is a natural leader, so we have a top group here. Hendo doesn’t do it alone but he’s the captain. It’s a proper job.”
