Here’s what the manager had to say…
On squad harmony: “I don’t think it’s possible [to keep everyone happy]. The thing we have to do is win games at LFC. You have to accept the decisions the manager makes. The players are doing that but they aren’t always happy. The are showing in training they can be influential.”
“I want to keep them happy but I want to keep them angry too when we play teams who want the points, we seem them as ‘our points’ if you like. 28 games to come, an OK start so far. We’ve had some down moments and we constantly have things to improve.”
On Adam Lallana: “He set the standards for the press from start to end. Adam set the standard and it was impressive. A player with technical skills and that working mentality is rare. If he was injured less he’d be on another level. One of the best I’ve worked with.”
On Joe Gomez: “It was always clear we had to bring in a CB, we all agreed. Joey hasn’t played much, he had a long-term injury. We have to deal with him with the intensity, we’re not even halfway through. Hopefully no injuries but that’s a footballer’s life. All 5 CBs get on.”
