Jürgen Klopp confirmed that James Milner and Sadio Mane are both back in contention for Saturday’s trip to Norwich City in his pre-match press conference.
Josh Sexton is joined by Mo Stewart, Kev Walsh and Ian Ryan in the studio to react to that and preview the game, while Chris Reeve provides the opposition view.
TAW Mo points out that Egyptian Mo is a worldwide superstar and that’s spot on. But, why? Because Klopp and LFC gave him the platform to rise to that status. Egyptian Mo owes us as much as we owe him. Why does club football continue to take it up the arse for national competitions? There has to be a balance returned for the investment clubs make in their players’ careers. I remember the day when only amateur players were allowed to compete in national competitions. We need to go back to that but won’t, unfortunately. In the meantime, as top clubs compete for more trophies and stay in the lion’s share of competitions longer than the lesser clubs, they will continue to pay more and risk more. And now, FIFA is talking about a super league of top clubs and UEFA want to expand their competitions too. Will clubs now be expected to double their rosters to compete at the elite levels? Probably, that’s where this is going.
