Liverpool and Mohamed Salah have a very unique and rare opportunity.
From a marketing perspective there are opportunities to be created and … exploited.
However, the bigger opportunity is to reach out into the communities and football fans in the countries where Salah is revered. Such an opportunity.
It’s been funny to see how the comparison with Messi has wound up certain people in the Spanish press with ties to Barcelona. El Pais ran an article the other day which explained that Salah ‘isn’t a skillful player’, ‘isn’t quick over a distance’ and ‘has made the most of the talent he has by recognising his own limitations and keeping things simple’. Much as I think Messi is in a different league to absolutely everyone, what I wouldn’t give to see Mo win the Balon d’or just to really piss them off, let alone enhance our prospects of keeping him for the foreseeable.
