It’s an action packed Gutter as Rob Gutmann looks beyond Kyiv. He’s the only man who can…
We start with Anderson Talisca, some giant lad banging them in in Turkey. What of him? Is he a plausible Liverpool target?
Then we get stuck right into The Emre Can Question. It is one for the ages this. What of our statuesque midfielder? What has brought us to this and what happens next?
Nabil Fekir is supposedly 99% joining Liverpool. He makes a whole ton of sense, you can’t argue with that.
There is a clip of Neil Atkinson chatting to Grant Wahl about Christian Pulisic and there is a chat about Dembele of Barcelona.
Rob is joined by Neil, Ian Ryan and Mo Stewart and to hear this show click here to subscribe.
Emre Can has to go. It’s best for LFC. Emre is perhaps a first 11 player but, much as he’s a very good player he’s not good enough. He’s played over 160 games for us now. When I say he’s not good enough people will rightly disagree because he is very good. But, we sometimes make these decisions on the current and the past. In the last 2 years he has been of a standard which is right for us. We’re clearly looking to make the next step now. Someone has to go and be replaced by much better quality. Emre is the perfect candidate. There’ll be no more fouls inside their half when we’re 1 up to 2 mins to play. Bottom line is our midfield needs more. Please don’t say this midfield has got us to the CL final. If the Prem was European sides only I’d be fine with all our team. There’s a reason we’re so far behind City though. It’s gonna change because gel head is freeing up the space. Fuck him. Made up he’s going.
Can will extend his career in italy, the pace suits him much more there. Plus there is the release clause issue that his advisors were insisting on.
He’s only getting 85 a week in italy. it wasn’t down to money imo.
As for no new keeper, that would be a big mistake imo. all world class sides have a world class keeper, with the exception of Navas maybe.
It’s encouraging that Fekir isn’t being linked to other clubs. He fills so many holes this team has.
Interesting shout by Neil about the difficulty in finding the right #6. Torreira is reminiscent of Kante, but less physical. It’s not impossible, but you would worry about having so many short players. Only the CBs & Henderson would be decent in the air. Somebody like Ndidi would improve us physically, but would do nothing to improve the flow of midfield. Jorginho just isn’t a DM in my book, but it’s obvious how he would suit Guardiola. Does Grujic have a future at LFC?
There are so many fringe players or loanees who I would be ruthless about selling to raise funds. It’s not easy, but let’s hope the owners agree that our chances of winning under Klopp are high. Seize the day, boys.
Felipe Anderson would become something really special under Klopp.
I like the idea of Talisca coming in as a false 9 backup for Bobby. How he plays reminds me of Firmino at Hoffenheim. I like the idea Fekir and Naby Keita as much needed midfield support especially since Can is probably leaving. Would love to see another center back as well. Honestly the winger support is the only serious question mark for me, surely some reinforcements would help with rotations as well… Pulisic/Dembele would be interesting for sure but it somewhat seems like weak older Dortmund links, curious if it has legs or not…
