The Review after Roma. What a game, what a performance, what a time to be a Red.
Liverpool cut Roma to ribbons for an hour but what of the first twenty and the approach the Roma manager took? He has come in for a lot of criticism post match but Sean Rogers is eager to redress the balance.
Liverpool played some magnificent football and pulled away only to be pulled back. How will the dressing rooms be feeling? What happens next on the road to Kiev for these two sides?
Rob Gutmann hosts with Sean and Neil Atkinson guesting on this one.
It’s our long look at Roma. To subscribe click here.
Is there a case for stating Salah is our best defender? The facts are that the last three goals we’ve conceded have come after he’s been substituted. Had he stayed on last night would we be celebrating a 5-0!? Doesn’t matter though, Roma can’t hold a candle to our boys in red. Come in No.6 your time is up.
Origi (hasn’t scored since early February, only been used as a sub for the last six games) and Sturridge (81 minutes played since he went out on loan) or persist with Solanke and Ings? Not a brilliant choice but it’s hard to argue Klopp didn’t make the right one.
The first 15 minutes is like it is in a lot of games.. and it isn’t a problem. The team goes out and plays somewhat cautiously while Klopp and his staff analyze what the other team is doing. Then they make the tactical changes and the rest is history.
Easily missed amongst the ridiculous goals and beautiful assists where the beautiful creation balls:
Wijnaldum’s 360 ‘Firmino’ before a perfect long pass that released Salah for one assist.
TAA’s back-heel volley that released Salah for another.. A back-heel volley for a 20 yard through ball?! The cheek!
Astonished and disappointed that TAW, a fans site, has yet to mention the fate of Liverpool fan, Sean Cox, now critically ill in hospital after attack by Roma fans near the stadium, just before kick off last night. Where are the words of support for Sean and his family? Where are the wishes for recovery etc?
So as a proud LFC supporter and compatriot of Sean’s, I guess I must lead the way here:
We’re with you, Sean, and we’re with your family. Get well soon! YNWA!
Think it might be because fan violence is a taboo subject to some.
But I kind of agree with what you’re saying.
the official TAW twitter account has retweeted multiple things regarding Sean Cox, and John Gibbons spoke with ITV about Sean and his concerns about traveling to Rome.
I have no doubts it will come through on TAW. Think The Pink was a little earlier and The Review is not the format to do so. Might be worthy of a broader discussion; Stan Collumore did a tweet that drew out some remarkable stories of fans getting abused abroad. Roma clearly ‘famous for it’ but Barcelona was pretty scary under Rafa being chased round those narrow cobbled streets and seeing about 5 fans at the airport who wouldn’t have been able to sit down for a while.
Can understand that you as A FRIEND AND TRUE RED IS UPSET AND DEVERSTATED, BY WHAT HAPPENED TO MR COX BUT please this ain’t the place to have a pop and say when people should and shouldn’t talk about such sensitive stuff. I shed tears once home and finding out what happened as missed incident by minutes after leaving the park. Robbo and Paul Cope did an excellent job covering it today and it was not a case of being late but most importantly being Educated so to cover it properly as The Wrap always DO NO MATTER WHAT.
THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU ALL THE FRIEND’S AND FAMILY OF MR COX AND ESPECIALLY MR COX GET WELL RED MAN…YOU’LL NEVER WALK ALONE XXXXXX
What is Rogers on about?
How can you bring Sturridge on when he’s injured?
“assuming he’s fit”
We don’t have to assume. We know he’s not. Ever.
Is this the Sean Rogers podcast? Man never heard anyone love the sound of there own voice so much!
You know how this works right ? The purpose of The Review is to get the views of a coaching professional on the detail of the game. Sean is that professional. Get it ?
Sean is heavily featured in review shows because he is a qualified coach. He sees the games slightly differently to the rest of us. I would bet 99% come on here to hear that much more technical perspective.
Exactly what the review is about tactical insight. It’s why there are shows for us all nobody is the same. What with being negative when the man is just doing a Good job. The anfield wrap is Educated old school Liverpool fan’s being exactly that…if not understanding of it red men tv is better for you bit more narrow minded you might handle it better..
