The Anfield Wrap this week focusses on three main areas:
– Liverpool 0 Stoke City 0
– Steven Gerrard going to Glasgow Rangers
– Looking ahead to the Champions League Semi Final against AS Roma.
Stoke City was a frustrating affair defined by mistakes from the referee and Liverpool in front of goal. Did Jurgen Klopp take a point?
Gerrard shifting to Rangers tells us about his ambition. Are we surprised by this?
The game against AS Roma is the biggest in the careers of many of these Liverpool players. What should we be expecting.
Neil Atkinson hosts Charlotte Campbell, Steve Graves and Paul Johnson.

LOVE listening to the AW … but I’m finding it surprising recently how cocky many of the presenters are regarding what’s going to happen in the next couple of weeks. Our Top 4 place IS in the balance … and these last two draws have placed a HUGE amount of unnecessary pressure on us, which is distracting for Klopp and a team which is down to the bare-bones. We now need to fight for our lives at Chelsea … and if we lose that we’ll probably HAVE to win final day. It’s all very well saying we’ll do that … but we’ve just drawn with three of the VERY worst teams in this league … and if Salah got a knock, I wouldn’t bet on us beating anyone. Same with Wednesday night … that game is not over. And dismissing Roma lacks respect.
I can see where you’re coming from but I think that when a team is basically fearless and free-scoring it starts to rub off on the supporters’ attitude. The issue I’d have with it is if those same people (and TAW contributors) instantly turned on the manager and players in the case of, say, not winning the European Cup and finishing 5th.
Yeah great point, with our injuries that could be a possibility but it’s a fine line between a season we will remember forever and a season of huge disappointment. The news that Buvac has quit doesn’t help either.
I
Seemed like a fair discussion for the most part regarding the Stoke match, VAR, and Stevie’s potential move to Rangers.
Yes if the top team is off their game out of necessity then maybe. Still it’s a big ask, and like Charlotte pointed out it is brave of Gerrard to take it on, not resting on his laurels, and trying to stick to LFC as a safety net.
It’s nice to get your optimistic, slightly over-confident views on the Roma game. I do agree with Charlotte that maybe the two they scored might be more advantageous to Liverpool than Roma, as a warning to Klopp and the team that Roma can still bite. 5-0 would have been the knock out punch.
I think cautious approach, but as mentioned, play their normal game, which is go out and attack. Roma will be expecting us to defend more, like Barcelona tried to do. If Barca had just gone there with the intention to finish the job like they do elsewhere in away games, they wouldn’t have lost.
The thing unlike you guys I am not so confident about is if one of Mane, Salah, Firmino or Virgil got taken out in the next game, it would be very tough sailing from then on.
So not even worrying about Chelsea right now, as we have to see how the Roma game goes first.
