Liverpool are back poking the transfer hornet’s nest, as they look set to return to Leipzig for Timo Werner, according to The Independent.
Will an offer be well received by Ralf Rangnick and co, or be straight batted after the summer-long Naby Keita saga? To discuss that, Neil Atkinson was joined in the room by Josh Sexton and over the phone by The Independent’s chief football writer Miguel Delaney.

come on, the lad is talented yound german footballer knocking back all the clubs meant to be in to him. not enough for me, Germany are the best in Europe, sell him to Bayern.
Timo Werner is one of the hottest prospects In German football and the number 1 striker of the German national team at this point.
He is not going to come to Liverpool to be a backup for Firmino.
Personally, dont want a Manc lover in our squad.
Not sure what Miguel Delaney has done to convince anyone at TAW he’s at all reliable when it comes to Liverpool transfer news but I’d file this alongside the Riyad Mahrez story he was peddling last time he was on here in the “unsubstantiated gossip” category.
Weird as it may sound, I don’t think we have anybody with a very good shot on him at the club just now. Werner has. Ticks Klopp boxes, but I don’t buy it. The issue with who drops & how we line up is interesting though. There are quite a number of players I could see being sold this summer.
