Rob Gutmann was joined for the latest Overview by Andy Heaton and Gareth Roberts as well as debutant Steve Tancock to look ahead to what could be the biggest month of Jurgen Klopp’s tenure as Liverpool boss.
Should Liverpool stick or twist with his line-up, or should the Reds throw caution to the wind?
With the improving Danny Ings forcing himself to the first-team fringe, could the 25-year-old get some minutes and a chance to score in a second Merseyside derby?
Love the bobby chariot references lads ha ha ha .
“Been eating cup a soups with them crispy cretins”
The boffins over at Fivethirtyeight give the Reds a 43% chance to make the semis, a 19% chance to make the final & a 9% chance of winning the Big Cup. They make it 96% chance to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
I’d leave out the front 3 vs Everton . Too many diminishing returns if they play all 3 games in 6 days. Do you really want them dropping off a cliff after 65 at the Etihad holding onto a one or two goal lead?
So give them full tanks for the Man City games. We can afford to kick the top 4 can down the road a little longer for the sake of this, most notably when the can lands at Stamford Bridge. By which time Chelsea will probably be knackered! Every single team bar-one that Chelsea play from now til the end of the season are either fighting for their lives at the bottom or fighting it out for top 4. the bar-one is Burnley away!
Request for clafirication: Did Steve Tancock indicate that Joel Matip tries too many vertical passes or that they’re not incisive or useful? Or was he talking about long diagonal pass attempts by Dejan Lovren?
clarification*
I was referred no to Matip. Noticeably in the games he’s played but VVD hasn’t he appears to me to have been trying to replicate Virgil’s vertical passes up the middle. With little success.
Referring to !!
Good show.
The new lad did well didn’t he…..ha ha
