In a special Central League show we focus on a few of the young players out on loan. John Gibbons speaks to fans of three clubs which are currently home to bright Liverpool talent. But how are they getting on?
Firstly Sammy from the Fulhamish podcast describes a stop start season for Sheyi Ojo at Craven Cottage, albeit with a few stand out performances. However we also discuss the future of seventeen year old sensation Ryan Sessegnon, who has been heavily linked with Liverpool.
Next Ste Goldsmith joins us from Wise Men Say podcast to let us know how Ovie Ejaria is developing at Sunderland. But we also discuss why the academy system in English football might not be the best preparation for life outside the Premier League.
Finally Sky Sports and Robins on the Wire presenter Michelle Owen gives us the low down on Ryan Kent’s stint at Bristol City and what she thinks the player needs to improve if he is to make it at the top level. However we also discuss the dilemmas a manager faces when having to develop someone else’s player in such an important season.
Thanks to all the guests for their help with the show
Appreciate the loan watch. Regrettably, can’t see any of these players making it to the first team, but they are talented & can have good careers. There are a number of players on the books in this age/talent level – Chirivella, Awoniyi, Allan, Flanagan, probably Grujic & even Origi – who seem in limbo. They won’t make it for Liverpool, they won’t fetch very high fees, & they don’t feel embedded at their current clubs.
