Boys boys boys …… stop this. The Pink is all about breathless in the back of a car it’s not about playing to a crowd. It’s not Fighting Talk. STOP IT.
Have to disagree Lee. I hated the last time they did this, but after listening to this one (and you can actually hear it this time) I thought it was pretty decent.
Fair enough. I suspect it’s the ‘dont like change’ syndrome ….. I’ll listen again.
This is going to kill your business model
Got no problem with the format but if you’re going to do it this way, can you please ensure the sound is working across the board? Mike Nevin’s voice is almost inaudible.
I’m not big on this format either to be honest, sound quality is never gonna be optimal and seems a bit unnecessarily theatrical. It’s not dreadful or anything just not for me.
Good stuff as usual. Agreed sound was a bit iffy especially for Mike.
I agree re this format, yeah, this one worked better than that Belfast sh*te but FFS the loss of that post-match, ‘breathless’ studio based atnosphere stands out a mile. Playing to the crowd hinders the experience lads, from the listeners’ perspective at least. I’m stuck down here at home, still coming unglued over the live stream’s f*ckin fragility and youse delivering the Pink , having actually been to the game and coming to me on The Wrap, I can count on. Remember some of us subbies can’t, under any circumstances, actually get to the game and youse are our ‘reliable witnesses’. Them other dudes in the HQ can and probably did, go the game – they’re only there to yahoo; we are here, in many cases, to get our only post-match fix. Giz the fr*ggin old format back lads and stop this desire to be stage-performers ya luvvies. Oh yeah, on another issue – thats about the third time I’ve heard Gibbo allude to Robbo’s apparent ‘attractiveness’, bromance blooming boys????
I’ve listened three times now. It really is about that feeling of instant reflection on the game as Fitz07 says for the benefit of those that couldn’t go. It should be raw and instantly reflective devoid of replays and other analyses. I honestly believe the Pink is the most important subscriber based output and some more thought / discussion be put into it.
Let me clear the boys work so hard on TAW I’m reluctant to stick my neck out here but on this one I feel it’s actually quite important.
Miserable asf. They’re doing the odd live event to interact with subscribers and you’re jealous you aren’t there. Its not a new thing they’re doing or trying to get going.
Loren. I think we’re trying to have a debate – no need to get vitriolic about it. I think more live events are great but perhaps something like an FT quiz format (Ban That Filth) would be ideal. Just feel very precious about ‘The Pink’ :)
You’ve listened to it 3 times? Are you on the sauce?
That’s mad.
The new format is brill. How do get hold of a ticket?
Im sorry love you guys but I hate the new format, sound quality is poor on both headphones, soundbar and computer speakers . And the audience thing just doesn’t work for post-match analysis.
One of my favourite shows but not in this format, sorry lads.
Really not enjoying these. Feels very, very far away from what The Pink should be.
When you’ve done them live I can’t get through it. With the Wetherspoons atmosphere and visual jokes that are good for the 50 or so people there, but not the thousands of paying subscribers – it feels like a big let down after a Reds win.
If it ain’t broke don’t fix it. It wasn’t broke lads, but it’s getting there.
This isn’t a new format, in terms of it being something we’ll do often. It’s something we’ve tried a couple of times.
Sevilla, Chelsea etc- it’s back to normal.
I don’t hate this format but the show does lose something with it. It’s the intimacy I think – the shows I like the most are the ones where we feel like we’re sitting alongside you in a pub having a chat together. Now the experience is we’re listening to you from a distance performing to an audience, but we’re not part of it. Might get used to it over time but I agree with the comments that you’re replacing one thing with another thing, not necessarily making the thing better.
