Gareth Roberts shares a cup of tea with Jimmy Rolfe, an outside right who played with Billy Liddell, Bob Paisley and Ronnie Moran among others.
Jimmy tells of his career in football, how it was interrupted by the war, a shock signing for a German club and his big chance at Liverpool alongside some of the greats.
So nice to hear Jimmy Rolfe.
As a kid, back in the 70’s, we used to live next door to Jimmy and his family and I’ve so many happy memories of having a kick about with him and my dad on the back field.
A really lovely man and a true red.
My best wishes to Jimmy.
Thanks Denis, as Jimmy’s grandson I will pass on that lovely message, he will be made up to see it. Cheers mate
This is our Uncle Jimmy so proud of a great person who has so many memories to share love the kings
The surname Rolfe is not exactly common. My mother’s maiden name was Rolfe. I hail from Liverpool. My nephew believes he is my cousin. If he is your uncle, then contacting you might prove or refute it. Would like to know more. Without intruding of course. Kind regards
Listening to this really reminds me of my grandfather, that generation were true gentleman and can teach us a lot
Jimmy is my Dad, what a gent. So proud of him. My hero !! You’re still only 25 in my eyes Dad. Thanks Denis, thanks Ellen, lovely words…… Karen xxx
