Are Liverpool in a crisis? What has gone wrong this season? What should Liverpool’s next move be?
Jürgen Klopp finds himself under pressure for the first time and Liverpool have shipped nine goals in two games to rivals.
Examining the situation are Josh Sexton, Paul Senior and Steve Graves, joining Rob Gutmann for his overview to the recent games and looking ahead to the battles to come.
we have conceded 9 to rivals – but since 13/14 how many times have we done that to rivals – city, Chelsea, spurs, arsenal, everton?
It happens – we might hate it now, but I’d imagine they all felt the same. Did anyone really think we were immune? Had everyone swallowed the media line that we were almost invincible against top 6 sides? If so, then more fool you.
This show reminded me of 4 blokes given the unenviable task of trying to come up with ingenious ways to stop the Titanic from sinking with a bucket and some gaffer tape!
Think Neil came the closest when he said they had to go back to the pressing game which was employed by the same manager and players to devastating effect at times but the long lasting effect of not tackling the issues within the team in the last window means 3-4 at best for us which would not be disastrous although frustrating.
Listening to the commentary on Sunday Dean Saunders said he thought Liverpool should sell Courtino to enable Klopp to buy a complete new back 5, that’s an average of 25mill per player. Selling one of your best players is never a good idea.
Cant agree with that and cant agree with Paul when he said buying 2 centre backs at 35mill a pop instead of paying 70 mill for VVD. Firstly when discussing this would really like whoever to put some names forward, bearing in mind West Brom knocked City back a bid of 25mill for Evans what does a 25-35 mill centre back look like? Lovren, Matip?
Secondly, surely our aim is to win the league and this being the case means we need outstanding quality, personally would much rather buy an outstanding player paying through the nose and build over years rather than buying lots of mediocrity which is something Rodgers did with poor results. You will never win the league doing this.
Paisley once said when working under Shankly the team needs to be turned over year on year, Ideally from a position of strength ,no sentiment, just keep moving on like a juggernaut.
This is what Klopp is trying to do, my fear is the frustrations of not moving forward quickly enough in the eyes of the support may mean he does not have the time he wants or needs.
We are all guilty of it because we all want it so so badly, if Klopp can put his sentiment to one side and really push in the next two transfer windows I personally don’t think we will be to far away .
AS always great listen
Agree point for point on everything. Don’t know what you could have done to deserve to sit through that while simultaneously listening to Dean Saunders though.
70m could have got us Lindelhof and Mustafi. Does that really make us better?
You have made my point, if that is the Quility you get at that level it ain’t helping anyone
Really good that.
I have to say Paul Senior was absolutely miserable on this show..His head has gone completely.
Talk about doom and gloom. So much to the point where he was talking absolute nonsense and not answering the questions asked..
We have lost 2 games and we are in a crisis? When asked what are the measures the manager can take to solve this his answer was tantamount to well everyone is shit, but bring Dany Ward in.. When asked again he says – bring in the same back 5..
He then says, since the Jurgen Klopp 1st game vs Spurs he hasn’t seen the so called intensity..err What!!!
Absolute madness!!!
He needs a lie down..
Hello darkness my old friend
