A victory for Liverpool against Huddersfield Town that feels mundane and strange in equal measure. We haven’t had many wins or even performances like this in the last eight years so how did everyone feel about it?
The club has had a difficult week and come out the other side with a victory.
Neil Atkinson hosts and is joined by Philippa Smallwood, Rob Gutmann and Adam Smith.
This week’s show is available to TAW Player subscribers NOW and will be available as usual via Audioboom/iTunes and the usual channels on Monday at 4pm, but for FREE early access you can download via Bandcamp here, just enter 0 in the ‘name your price’ box.

My bad
Salah is wasteful infront of goal. its obvious. He is egypts penalty taker because he is their superstar.
He is not composed enough. Milner is the most composed of them all.
The threats to Lovren were beyond pathetic. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve not criticised him much at all (and certainly not tweeted to him personally). I’ve seen it as a collective malaise as much as individual. But, I don’t think the criticism has been a bad thing. We can’t allow, not just the Spurs debacle, but the numerous errors that at this level are unacceptable. I’m talking about Matip being switched off, Lovren badly misjudging balls and Gomez not being aware of his surroundings – all leading to goals. We don’t really know how much improvement there was Saturday but it’s good that Klopp has got them together and told them they have to do better. What’s the alternative? Carry on conceding and seeing our season go down the pan. The season is young. I’m glad our frustration has boiled over and it’s been addressed whether it has, going forward, or not. Meeting’s have been had. Players have come out saying it’s been unacceptable. Hopefully it’ll pay off because it hasn’t been good enough this season. We’re finding it hard to score in games we’re dominating. Last thing we need is to be leaking goals at the back. Sometimes, it has to come to a head. I feel it has and hope the fallout gets us back on track.
Excellent show today: a thought occurred listening to you discussing the midfield. Emre and Milner are both guilty of holding on to the ball too long, Coutinho too, at times. Our best midfield lineup last season was Henderson, Lallana and Gini – that was the lineup that tore up the league in Autumn, and one in which all the midfielders knew & understood their roles. That’s what I’d like to see once Lallana is fit again. You never know, it could solve all our problems.
I posted something on the subscribers page a fortnight ago. Last season’s best results came when Lallana and Mane played, our worst came when they were both out and all the poor ones had one of them out. We’ll go on a run after the international break.
