The Champions League proper is back at Anfield for the first time in three years as Liverpool face Sevilla in the opening Group E fixture.
Joining John Gibbons to preview The Reds’ first group stage outing of the season are Andy Heaton, Gareth Roberts and Rob Gutmann as they talk about how Liverpool should go about their business, what they need to be wary of and where they can look to take advantage.
We are also joined midway through the show by the doyen of Spanish football in Sid Lowe to give us the expert lowdown on what Liverpool can expect from Eduardo Berizzo’s men.
A game under the Anfield lights and with a point to prove means the lads will come out with fire in their bellies. But Sevilla are a very decent team and I would be surprised if they play as open as Man City did in the first 30 mins on Saturday. Space will be at a premium and may need to have a lot of patience in this game. An early goal will help settle nerves but they will test our defence.
Love the show, but is there any chance of producing this a bit closer to kickoff in the future?
Spent a good portion of this discussing who starts in goal, but if it was produced on Tuesday, we’d already have had the answer. Also mention Salah was taken off at halftime so he has to start, but then we find out he was ill so that adds a bit more intrigue to the discussion as well.
Suppose I could always listen day it comes out, but think listening to a preview show on the day of the game makes sense.
Cheers.
