Liverpool break their transfer record and may well smash it again before the week is out not once, but twice!
Joining Rob Gutmann for what feel’s like the home straight of the transfer window are Gareth Roberts, Paul Senior and Craig Hannan.

Guys Shushhh, if Southampton and Monaco get wind of Barcelona’s interest in Coutinho the prices’ll go up! Irresponsible podcastery!! :)
Surely their interest in him has been kept’ ‘under wraps’ so far? I’ve certainly not read anything about it in my ‘Association Football’ transfer periodical, and that comes out at least 6th monthly! :)
Fully on board with Gareth’s level-headedness there about Coutinho. I am still hoping we hold our nerve and not sell him. No chance of winning anything if we haven’t got the squad to compete.
Since there is a small mention of betting: I am not a betting woman and can’t say I fully understand how it works and can’t be bothered to learn so this might be a stupid question, but I’ve always wondered if twitter ITK’s have the power to shift odds when they start rumours. Or is it just the case that in their narcissism they think they can? Or is it just not a thing at all to be wondering about. It’s just that the conviction with which they spread absolute rubbish is quite striking that I feel there must be a financial incentive (real or imagined) somewhere.
I think you’re right Amy, it would be good to show Barca’ that we won’t be bullied. It might be helpful when the inevitable interest in Mane, Firmino et al occurs. In regard to the betting thing, I imagine that rumours, depending on the source, can affect odds, if they become widespread. Although the last couple of days has actually been quite nice and uplifting , I am thoroughly sick of the transfer window. I really hope that the premier league at least, try and put a stop to the overlap between the window and the beginning of the season, it’s a bit ridiculous at the mo’. As for ITK’s, like all narcissists, I think they need to get some kind of life! :)
I was just curious about Coutinho’s odds to play for Barcelona in relation to all the times big ITK accounts tweet that he’s definitely leaving, considering it’s more likely he’ll still be an LFC player on Friday.
Two more days…
I go along with both Paul and Gareth on this one. Paul in terms of how badly the player and his agent have treated the club, and Gareth in terms of what he wants the outcome to be. We all know how this plays out if PC’s tactics work – the sudden about-face, open letter included, saying what an incredible club Liverpool is etc etc. (which may even be a genuine sentiment) …followed by the bragging from Barcelona about how we have basically been put in our place and a renewed conviction on everyone’s part that Liverpool can, ultimately, be pushed around. My best guess in any case is that FSG might be true to their word on this one, not necessarily to teach they player a lesson, but because Barcelona, with their initial bids, took them for total morons.
Little Tommy Lemar…. LOL
£40mio for a squad player? I know the world has gone mad but which bench would the Ox sit on?
You can only play 11 and our current 3 are great with Adam to come back from injury, hopefully a reconciliation with PC, Keita next season and Lamar. I know he is English but that seems less important recently. If I believed stuff maybe Emre and PC will go this window so there might be regular first team space.
Can’t wait for all this, and stupid international break to be over, and lets start thinking about how we beat City next up.
