Today Ed Malyon, sports editor at The Independent, has written an exclusive story detailing Philippe Coutinho’s desire for “clear-the-air talks” with Liverpool following the apparent breakdown of his transfer to Barcelona.
You can read the article here.
Ed joins John Gibbons and Neil Atkinson over the phone to talk through the story, what is likely to happen next and how easy it will be to mend relations with all parties concerned. We also talk about sourcing and fact checking an international transfer story in 2017.
Listen to a free clip of Ed discussing how Philippe Couintho’s teammates are likely to react to developments, here:
You guys did a good job of interviewing, but is Ed on the Kia payroll? I’m going to be getting on with supporting all the players in the coming weeks, but to completely ignore Phils behaviour is ridiculous. He completely threw our start of the season out of whack and now it’s someone else’s fault. He’s coming across like an absolute pussy. He can come back, but he should own it. If I want to change my job, I don’t refuse to come in to work or email in my resignation. One thing he didn’t mention is the fans, y’know the ones that pay their whopping pay packets.
