In the first of a new series of podcasts about Liverpool stories away from the football, Gareth Roberts and John Gibbons find out about the city’s Whitechapel Centre.
Kenny Lawler, housing and resettlement supporter worker, and Ruth McCaughley, the centre’s fundraising manager, explain what the centre is, how it is funded and who uses it.
They also explain the No Second Night Out Merseyside campaign and how people in the city can help.

Great deal of admiration for people like Ruth and Kenny, certainly made me think.
Not being from the City really enjoy hearing about people and events going on in and around Liverpool.
Enjoyable thought provoking show lads.
This was excellent! I was aware of the work the Whitechapel centre are doing and was great to hear more specifically how the centre works, especially with the support provided to people who are vulnerable to becoming homeless. It is definitely getting worse in town and nationally and it can feel a bit overwhelming when you see a homeless person in every second doorway and don’t know how to help. I’ve now set up a Direct debit to the centre on the back of this so hope that can contribute towards providing the brilliant support that these people need. Keep up the great work!
Hard to be an LFC supporter, even from the other side of the world, without being interested in the city itself. With a trip to Liverpool in my future, anything like this is valuable. Keep it coming!
