Paul Senior is joined by Neil Atkinson, Craig Hannan and Ian Salmon for a midweek update on where Liverpool are and what they should be looking to do. What should be the midfield plan? What do we expect and when? Any hopes, Liverpool? Any hopes?

Having listened to this I read Melissa’s interview with JK. At one point he says you need to understand what drives a player. While I expect Keita wants to play at a top club and win things, I read somewhere else that he supports his extended family back home. At this stage in his young life that must loom large and, as Liverpool will double or treble his salary, it must be a strong factor in his desire to move. Maybe not as strong as wanting to work with Klopp but up there.
So, if he doesn’t move this window that will be because RBLiepzig have given him a new contract that has doubled or trebled his salary AND, probably, increased the value of the release clause, so next year it will not be €48m and off to Bayern. So, he’s guaranteed CL games if he stays and he has more cash to help his family.
BTW, I’m not convinced that we need another midfielder. We proved last season that we could hold our own with top opposition. JK is after Keita because he’s such an unusual talent not because he thinks we’re weak in that part of the side. Our current midfield with the addition of Grujic and Woodburn is formidable.
We might offer 75m but a decent champions league campaign will cover the 27m difference. As will qualifying again next season. Plus red bull will start to be seen as a reasonable destination for cl footie.
A lot more to leipzigs stance than just the fee

Markovic @ Hull was really good. We don’t know how Klopp feels and what the underlying vibe is, but he worked hard tracking back, and never got much of a chance here.
Without having Salah’s speed, feel like they got similar chances @ Chelsea & LFC.
Don’t mind him going, and he’s not Klopp’s guy, but feel like he could’ve been useful.
What will happen if LFC sign no one else but sell Coutinho and Can? Would all faith be lost in FSG? I’m just playing devils’s advocate.
Enjoyed the discussion, must be hard to regurgitate the Keita and VVD saga once more.
Agree with Ian’s point about how isolated Keita appeared both after he was fouled and after the revenge tackle. When the club captain does that, you don’t have many mates. Here’s hoping.
The alternative to Keita appears to be Oxlade-Chamberlain. Again, Neil’s point that we need quality replacements when Henderson’s foot flares up or when Firmino is knackered ETC. is totally valid if we want to win
something. I had thought a first team squad of 18 would be enough; but maybe it is 20 players plus the U23 graduates.
