IT’S the Back Page, another look at football’s relationship with the media.
Gareth Roberts is joined by Ian Salmon, James McKenna and Glenn Price, who covers Liverpool for ESPN, to talk the late Graham Taylor, his treatment by the tabloids, and how that influences the media of today, and the announcement that BT have shelled out an eye-watering £1.2bn for Champions League rights.
With high speed internet pretty much being widely available and relatively cheap, I can’t believe people still pay the prices they do for Sky and BT. With the rise of Netflix, Amazon, Kodi boxes the time of people sitting down in front of the telly at a set time has long gone, I think these are the last days of a dying medium (tv subscriptions) and the last chance BT have to justify putting the prices up before people walk away.
Enjoyed that fellas. Defo too much footy on the telly. I used to record games regardless of who’s playing if I ever missed them. Now your almost sick of it!!! Also effects how you view other sports. Eg. Big Boxing bill, The Open or Southampton vs Burnley. The footy will be the prime coverage rather than these other sports. Also enjoyed the lads opinions on Graham Taylor. Seemed a lovely fella such a shame about the perception the media portrayed him. Up the Reds
