Neil Atkinson hosts the exuberance after Liverpool beat Tottenham by two Sadio Mane goals to nil.
He is joined by John Gibbons, Charlotte Campbell and Philippa Smallwood to talk through what The Reds did well.
Expect joy. because, well, it has been a while.’
Fucking love you guys – you do so much hard work and are very consistent. Best podcast ever!!!!
Gibbo sounds really drunk in this! Ha!
Love hearing John Gibbons desperately trying to sound sober and coherent…..it usually means we’ve won!! Nice one TAW, must’ve been a bit shite doing The Pink and The Review these last few weeks, I think we all deserve a bit of footy happiness and perspective now. :)
For the first time in years I cringed and struggled to make it to the end of the podcast. John was clearly drunk, beat about the bush several times and the way he stuttered at times you’d think he was on bloody drugs.
Completely disagree with the claim that Mignolet is a top-5-in-the-league keeper. If that’s not a knee jerk reaction, I don’t know what is.
How carried away are we getting by undermining a solid keeper like Hugo Lloris. It’s true that he’s more prone to errors when compared to De Gea and Courtois, but if you had a choice to choose between the 2 Belgians a long term goalkeeper, it’s Lloris all. Day. Long.
Honestly I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, John was unlike himself and clearly intoxciated.
Only positive as far as this podcast is concerned is of course Neil Atkinson, asking the right questions and managing the podcast to perfection – as per.
Oh and the result, don’t mean to be negative after such a great game but TAW has set a benchmark over the years which is why hundreds like me pay to listen to you guys and this podcast was noticeably below par.
Anyway, looking forward to the next review of this game, there’s no doubt it’s going to be much better because you guys have a superb track record.
Up the Reds.
The whole point of the podcast is to capture the mood after the game, and after a good win I would expect Gibbo to be clearly drunk (probably tried a bit too hard to sound sober if anything).
It seems very hard to maintain form as a keeper, especially playing for a good side where you tend not to be tested regularly. A few years ago I would have said Lloris was up there somewhere just below De Gea but the last season or two I don’t think he has been that good. Actually, it seems to happen to a lot of keepers that you have in your mind as being imperious until suddenly you realise they actually aren’t very good any more, e.g. Hart, Reina and possibly Courtois is falling into that category.
Gibbo – Gibbo – Gibbo
Gibbo makes more sense pissed, than I do sober
Much needed feedback after a game
Keep it up boys, the best podcast on the web!
Gibbo is smashed.
Normally I dont like female voices in a podcast, but these 2 are good.Very calm and refreshing.
I am the liqour
Brilliant stuff, John still talks a lot of sense even when pissed, how do you do that, is a legend! but a big shout for Philippa , always gives a level headed intelligent comment win lose or draw like to hear a lot more from her, come to think of it all excellent. Thanks
At last a bit of positivity, perpetuated by a proper performance (wow 4 p’s)…we will get there…yep Georgie W….MOM….immense
Gibbo killed his Succinct Genes with ale. If Neil asked him to sing the anthem, we’d have ended up with 3 new verses. Having said that, his delivery was round about but he always got there in the end. Fuckin hero, as were the rest of the crew for not pissing themselves halfway through when he kept on, and on and on, until he’d made his point. This is TAW though, even bevied they deliver crackin stuff.
Phillipa’s voice always reminds me of Philomena Cunk, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hNA6b66bILk, but she’s always spot on with her analysis. Gibbo was hilarious throughout.
Top stuff :)
Love the new girl need to have her on more!
Love John but that was difficult to listen to I’m afraid. Needs a slur test before going on.
Haha I agree with most of the comments above.
Listen guys, you seem to be completely missing the glaringly obvious. The reason we played so well against Chelsea and Spurs is because both thise teams tried to play a bit. If a team actually tries to play against us we will win 9/10 times. This is the way we are built to play andcwe are the best at it! We are an awsome football team, Klopp has done amazingly well to achieve this but when we come up against a team with 9 or 10 players in defence it is almost like we are playing a different sport. All our attacking players lose 10% and there is no cohesion because we are trying to play football our way but it just doesn’t work against a team that are literally not trying to play football.
In short, stop reading so much into us playing so well against the top teams. Stop thinking “finally the players are back in form” There is nothing wrong with the players, the problem is we play almost the same way against a top team as we do against a shite team and that doesn’t work and the confidence just goes. How can you press against a team that don’t have or want the ball? How can you hunt in packs to quickly regain possession and launch a counter attack when that team doesn’t want or have the ball? This is what we face with 90% of the teams we play but we are only built towards destroying the top 4 or 5 teams. Teams that want to play!?
This needs to be addressed or people like yourselves will continue to get hard after a great performance against a brilliant team and then be left scratching your head when we lose or draw against a bottom team the week after.
This is not rocket science boys.
It is definitely makes it easier for us when teams come out to play but up until Coutinho got injured we were battering teams that sat back as well. Once he, Firmino and Lallana get back in their groove I think we will have too much for the bus parkers again
Gibbo sounded like how I imagine the Drunken Bakers from Viz sound like
Listening to this at 8pm Sunday, hearing Gibbo is taking me back to 2am Sunday! Great stuff
I like the way you move to gibbo hahaha
Gibbo’s never talked so much sense!!
“Mig-new-lay”
“Buzzed off them, don’t know if Buzzed off them is the right word”. hahahaha! I loved this podcast.

Thanks Wilson but it doesn’t seem to be working for me? I paste the link and enter my credentials then nothing!
I think maybe one or two people are misinterpreting ‘The Pink’ as a show. It is all about visceral and emotional reaction which is why it is posted a few hours, sometimes minutes, after a match. I have absolutely no problem with Gibbo’ being a bit lathered because this pod is designed to be a recreation of a post-match pub discussion. It isn’t ‘The Review’, where sober analysis is key and that is the whole point. To be fair, looking at the comments, most people do understand this. Although obviously we shouldn’t get carried away after our recent results it is a bit churlish to downplay this result and imply that we have been found out by the ‘lesser’ sides. Time will tell but I don’t think it is just down to ‘low blocks’ and systems. We have been very off-form as in the autumn we had little problem beating teams that set up in this way. Obviously the test will come soon but confidence is huge for our side and even with the win I think the clean sheet and the steely resolve of the 2nd half will have been a great boost. We have too short memories sometimes because we tend to give in to the narrative that we can only win when we are 100%, I don’t think we played that well in the derby, yet confidence and resolve saw us through, same against City, we did well but in a different style. Anyway, I’m happy again, at least for now. Come on you Reds, 2nd or 3rd, or even 4th would still be a productive season. Best wishes. :)
I would like to apologize for getting carried away for my long DREARY negative comment up there!
It was after all the ‘pink’ and I took it far more seriously than i should have.
I’m about to go ahead and listen to the ‘too hot Spurs for Spurs’ podcast and genuinely can’t wait – TAW is a joy to listen to and I hope you guys carry on giving us this ace content.
UP THE REDS
Nice one mate, though I don’t think there was any need for an apology. We’re all emotional reds and have different views at different times. Long may it continue. All the best. :)
