JOINING Gareth Roberts for a first-ever AFQ Football, Mike Nevin, Melissa Reddy and Paul Cope field a series of quick-fire footie questions about anything and everything, from favourite away ends to FSG, from the ills of modern footie fan culture to best barnets.
It’s a strong debut but will it get the crowd onside?
It’s just playing the post match Hull show fellas.
Oh and Robbi any chance i can join the facebook group haha!

Been having FSG in my head all day and wondering where they go from here. I’ve been thinking get them out because I’m not sure they’re the owners to move us forward and win us the league. Copey has persuaded me however to give them until the summer. See how much they back Jürgen with and see where we go from a position of strength. If we’re still in a similar position this time next year, then I feel they definitely have to go and our next owners have to be someone who can at least match the money that Chelsea, City and United have
Good show Robbo. i always find i enjoy the shows that engage with the listeners directly like AFQ, Neill’s postmatch facebook live sessions, and now AfQ Football.
Didn’t agree with Mels comment about it would be difficult for liverpool to win the league with any owners. I’m sorry it’s about ambition. You get a man City style ownership or Chelsea liverpool would more than likely win the league.
How does that model work now we have FFP?
Sponsorship. Example if the Chinese came in they could name the new stand Air Asia for stupid amount of money. It’s not hard to get round FFP, that’s how city have done it
Neil made a point on the TAW two days ago Klopp and FSG might have a strategy in place to go all out so to speak in the summer with transfers in relation to FFP instead of over spending in the January transfer window.
Man City, with no chance in this campaign, will have won the league once in the last five seasons [current included]. The point was not that LFC couldn’t win the league under different (richer) owners, but that it would still be difficult.
Really enjoyed this one, great questions from the subscribers.
Enjoyed this a lot. I like the way AFQ frenetically jumps from one mad topic to another, but it’s nice to have a similar show just focusing on football. Doesn’t have to be a weekly feature – in fact I’d recommend you make it less frequent, purely cos it’s hard for us to come up with two lots of good questions in the space of three days or whatever haha. But I’m looking forward to hearing more. Great insight in the FSG section. While they’re rightly under scrutiny, it’s important to avoid viewing a change of ownership as some guaranteed golden ticket for winning leagues (H&G were initially seen by many in that way).
FSG does not really care about winning the Premier League; they care about winning the world series with the Red Sox. I honestly believe they are more willing to spend on the Red Sox than on Liverpool because they fancy baseball over football. I’m an American and hate baseball, but they have spent $150 million plus this offseason on the red sox, when have they ever invested near that in Liverpool FC? They’re not fans of Liverpool FC, they are just absent owners….
And there is 0% chance we will sign Aubameyang…… never going to happen.
I liked that: in-depth discussion as well as quick one-liners. Couple of comments, first time I heard “brace” was as the plane was taxiing out to take off. Second, the thing about not being able to come up with a football cliche (or whatever) on the spur of the moment is what the French call “L’esprit d’escalier”. Many of them live in flats and the ‘L’esprit’ thing is what you think you should have said as you are storming down the stairs (escalier) after having lost an argument with your loved one … sort of like leaving Anfield after any game so far this year
Paul Cope made a great point in regards to business with fans jumping from calling Milner for example the best LB in the league to we need a new LB and FSG should sell within 6 months. Imagine if every business is ran on a whim. Bankruptcy’s would be a daily occurrence. Even the top clubs who have richer owners still have business issues. Great point on FSG intentions and not able to match the bigger clubs. LFC wouldn’t have Klopp if a richer owner was in place and splurging on players at inflated prices.
For footy words…..how about ‘Blammer’. You will never hear it on Sky or BT, but you will hear it in fields all over Merseyside!
Great listen that….
