It’s The Review show dissecting Liverpool’s 3-2 defeat at the hands of Swansea City. To help you recover from that disappointment Neil Atkinson and Sean Rogers were joined by a special guest in former Liverpool assistant manager Pako Ayestarán.
Pako spent three years as Rafa Benitez’s right hand man at Anfield, overseeing a Champions League and FA Cup win. He has since had spells managing in Mexico, Israel and Spain, and was at Anfield this weekend to witness the Reds’ surprise defeat.
So who better to join our Tuesday Review regulars and analyse where it went wrong for Jürgen Klopp’s side.
The Tuesday Review is a considered in-depth discussion of Liverpool’s last match introducing talk around tactics and selection. It’s just one of a string of shows on TAW Player, our subscription podcast service that offers more than 30 shows about Liverpool FC every month. Find out more here.
Great show as usual guys (pays for the subscription by itself) and nice work getting Pako onboard. It was great to get the perspective from someone who has been there and done it, even if what he said wasn’t much different to what you guys have been saying. Would be really good if you could get a few different former managers/assistants on the show as it is really nice to balance out Sean’s experience and stop your discussion from getting into a bit of a rut.
Pako should never have been let go by LFC. He was instrumental in our winning the Champions’ League. Without him, Rafa was not as effective a manager. His comments on the podcast were much appreciated. I hope TAW can get him again in the future to provide his analysis.
Fantastic insight from Pako.
